Absent Lords excused.

The Lord Berkley is excused for his Absence this Day.

The Lord Viscount Say & Scale is excused for his Absence for Two or Three Days.

Fast to be kept in Lincoln's Inn Chapel.

The House being informed, "That the Church in The Covent Garden is too big a Church for some of the Ministers Voices;" the House hereupon appointed Lyncolnes Inne Chaple, to keep the Fast upon Wednesday next there.

Sir John Hotham's Petition for a Respite.

Upon reading the Petition of Sir John Hotham, Knight and Baronet; shewing, "That he being condemned to Death by the Honourable the Court Martial, and this next Monday appointed for the Execution of the Sentence, whereby he is much streightened in Time for the Settlement of those Things that concern both himself and his Estate; he therefore humbly prayeth this Honourable House, that, out of their tender Compassion to him and his, they would take it into their serious Consideration, that he may have such further Time allowed him as in their Lordships Wisdom shall seem proportionable to his Necessities."

Hereupon this House Ordered, That this Petition be sent to the House of Commons; and to desire their Concurrence, that Sir John Hotham may be reprieved until Thursday come Sevennight.

Message to the H. C. with it;

A Message was sent down to the House of Commons, by Sir Rob't Rich and Mr. Page:

1. To recommend the Petition of Sir John Hotham to them; and to desire their Concurrence, that he may be reprieved until Thursday next come Sevennight.

and about keeping the Fast in Lincoln's Inn Chapel.

2. To let them know, that this House hath appointed Lyncolnes Inne Chapple for the keeping of the Fast on Wednesday next, instead of The Covent Garden Church.

Ordinance for the Attainder of the Archbishop of Cant.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure into a Committee, to consider of the Archbishop of Canterburie's Business.

And the House being resumed, the House Resolved, To send to the House of Commons, to desire that their Lordships may hear them in Point of Law, in Answer to the Reply of the Counsel of the Archbishop's.

Answer from the H.C.

The Messengers being returned again without Admittance, the House of Commons being very private in great Business, this House made this Order following:

Order for Sir John Hotham's Execution to be respited.

"Ordered, by the Lords assembled in Parliament, That it be recommended to the Commissioners for Martial Affairs, to reprieve the Execution of the Sentence given upon Sir John Hotham Knight and Baronet, until Thursday next come Sevennight, if they see Cause, in regard of the Settlement of those Things that concerns both himself and his Estate."

The Messengers sent to the House of Commons return with this Answer:

That they agree to the keeping the Fast on Wednesday next, at Lyncolnes Inne.

Adjourn.

House adjourned till 9a, Monday next.
