Pleading: John Wyke, in person, and his wife Margaret by JW, executrix of Thomas Croxton, state that on 26 January 1447, in London, John Ayleworth made a bond with TC, now deceased, in 40s, payable at Lady Day then next. However, JA did not pay TC during his lifetime, or to TC's executor Margaret, either before or after her marriage to JW, to their damage of 40s. They show the bond in court, and the testamentary letters of TC, by which Margaret is executor and has administration.
Pleading: JA states that he ought not owe this debt, as before the making of the bond there was an agreement between him and TC that JA would make this bond on the condition that if JA should pay TC 20s at Martinmas then next, and 20s at the following Martinmas, then the bond shall be cancelled. He states that at the time of the bond he was a man of little learning, and the bond was read to him in English as containing this condition. Believing that this was the case, he sealed the bond, even though this was not the case, and thus this bond, not containing this condition, is not of his making. Parties on country, jury here at octave of Trinity. Pledges named for defendant. Bond in custody of John Fogge.

Pleading: John Senycle, citing the terms of the statute of 5 Richard II against unlawful entry into property [Stat Realm, 5 Ric II, c. 7], states that on 12 August 1465, Thomas Grygges made entry without permission into a messuage, 70 acres of land, 6 acres of meadow, 3 roods of wood, 20 acres of peat ['mucarie'] and 21s rents in Stiffkey, against the form of the statute and to his damage of £100.
Pleading: TG states that JS has nothing in this property except in conjunction with Thomas Trenchmer, who is still alive, and seeks judgment as TT is not named in the writ.

This was to be returned on request, but RC has not done this, to his damage of £20.
Pleading: RC states that he was always prepared to deliver the document as claimed, and offers it to him in court. RF thus receives it here in court, RC quit, but not amerced as he came on the first day.

Pleading: [continued at Trinity 1468, rot 363] PH states that he ought not owe this debt, as he made these bonds and sealed them, and delivered them to a certain John Parys of London for safe-keeping, on the condition that if TT make over to PH 30 acres of land sown with barley, 20 acres of land sown with oats, and 12 acres of land sown with wheat ('frumento et siligine'), five acres of land sown with peas, worth £12 19s, and 300 sheep, namely 250 sheep worth £23 15s 10d, and 46 sheep worth 57s 6d, then JP was to hand the bonds to TT as true deeds of PH. Otherwise JP was to retain the deeds and return them to PH on request. PH states that TT did not deliver 140 of the said 300 sheep, but notwithstanding this JP still delivered the bonds to TT, contrary to the condition. PH therefore states that these bonds are not of his making. Parties on country, jury here at octave of Michaelmas. Bonds in custody of John Fogge.
