207 FINCHER V GUNTER

Jeremiah Fincher, gent v Charles Gunter of Kintbury, co. Berkshire

April - May 1636

Abstract

The cause and result of Fincher's complaint against Gunter are unknown as the surviving proceedings refer only to the latter's obligation to appear in May 1636.

Summary of proceedings

Dr Tooker acted as counsel for Fincher and Dr Eden for Gunter. On 7 May 1636 Gunter was to appear when next stipulated. On 9 May there was discussion of a bond and the words in the libel. Gunter was required to appear and Dr Eden to speak for him.

Notes

Charles Gunter of Kintbury (d. c.1646) was the son and heir of John Gunter of Kintbury, co. Berkshire, and Alice, daughter of Thomas Keblethwaite. He married Anne, daughter of Richard Turvile of Thurlaston, co. Leicester, and subsequently Jane, daughter of Anthony Gray of Carbrooke, co. Norfolk. [For a later case in which Charles's son John Gunter was the plaintiff, see cause 266].
