North out of Snow Hill, near Holborn Bridge, in Farringdon Ward Without (O. and M. 1677-N. and Q. 1849-50, Vol. 1).

The inn stood at the north end of the yard and had a passage into Chick Lane. It was a famous coaching inn.

Removed for the formation of Holborn Viaduct and its approaches.

In the 18th century the King's Bench Office (q.v.) stood there, containing the Records of the Court, now in the Record Office.

The King's Bench Buildings were destroyed by fire in 1677 (H. MSS. Com. Ormond, IV. 45).
