Little Friday Street

West out of Basing Lane to Friday Street, in Bread Street Ward (Elmes, 1831). In O.S.1848-51 "Little Friday Lane."

First mention : W. Stow, 1722.

Former name : "Pissing Alley" (Leake, 1666).

In earlier times Distaff Lane seems to have extended further east into the parish of St. Margaret Moses.

Absorbed into Cannon Street, at its western extension, 1853-4.

Little Fryer's Gate

South out of Fleet Street to Lombard Street, in Farringdon Ward Without (Rocque, 1746-Dodsley, 1761).

Now named "Pleydell Court" (q.v.).

Commemorates one of the gates giving entrance to the Whitefriars monastery.

Little George Street

North out of India Street Minories at No. 5 (P.O. Directory).

Former name : "Vine Street" (W. Stow, 1722-Elmes, 1831).

India Street was formerly called George Street, hence the name, "Little George Street."

Little Gloucester Street

Out of Whitecross Street (W. Stow, 1722-Boyle, 1799).

Not named in the maps.

Little Green Arbour Court

West out of Little Old Bailey, in Farringdon Ward Without (O. and M. 1677-P.C. 1732).

The site is occupied by Angel Court (q.v.) in Rocque, 1746.

Little Greenwich

At the south-east end of Horn Alley, Aldersgate Street, in Aldegate Ward Without (P.C. 1732-Boyle, 1799).

"Little Greenwich Alley" in Strype, ed. 1755 and L. Guide, 1758.

Site now occupied by "Edmund Place" (q.v.).
