The def. denies that he was the pl.'s receiver and offers to wage his law. The pl. says that it is manifestly a case for a jury, and that the def. ought not to be admitted to wage his law ['dicit quod in huiusmodi placitis compoti, ubi pars querens narrando asserit versus suum receptorum, de recepcione denariorum proveniencium de certis denarratis venditis unde patria manisfestam cognicionem habere potest, pars defenders in placito compoti secundum consuetudinem civitatis ad legem suam admitti non debet' etc.]. The court adjourns for consultation. Later the def. again appears and denies the charge, and puts himself upon a jury, which is summoned for the next court.
