The pope motu proprio reserves to William, bishop of Tusculum, the archdeaconry with annexed canonry and prebend of Wells, on their voidance by Thomas Fastolf, bishop elect of St. Davids, with the necessary dispensation. Avignon, 3 Non. Jan.

Henry, duke of Lancaster. Whereas Clement VI. granted faculty to the master or prior of the hospital of St. Mary, Leicester, where the body of Henry's father, the earl of Lancaster, is buried, to hear confessions and grant absolution to those who visited the hospital on the feast of St. Michael, and during eight days before, and eight days after it, the duke prays the pope, in consideration of the numbers that flock there, to extend the faculty to others deputed by the said master or prior; cases reserved to the apostolic see being excepted.

Whereas he obtained papal letters of dispensation addressed to his diocesan touching his illegitimacy, so as to be ordained and hold a benefice, he had previously, in ignorance of the law, received the orders of sub-deacon and deacon; but now, on learning the state of the law, and that his parents were related in the fourth degree, he prays for dispensation to minister in the orders he has received, and to be ordained priest.
