Private Secretaries to Principal Officers and Commissioners 1829-32
In 1829, following the redistribution of the duties of the members of the Navy Board, provision was made for an annual allowance of £50 to be paid to the third class Clerk chosen by each member to act as his Private Clerk or Private Secretary. (fn. 1)
