Question

Jul 11 2010, 09:19:55 Larkhill Camp 1946

I have recently come across a group photograph of my aunt, who originally came from Brixham, Devon, and written on the back of this is: LARKHILL CAMP 1946. I would like to find out more about this camp at that time and to share this photograph with others in the hope that they can recognise a friend or family member. Can anyone point me in the right direction of how to find out about this camp?

In 1946 Larkhill Camp contained the School of Artillery. Between 1945 and 1948 I was an occasional visitor there. I should be surprised if someone in uniform was not present in your photograph. My last visit to Larkhill was just before my retirement in 1988. It was still a school of gunnery and seemingly very up to date. The librarian certainly helped me and may well be able to help you.
