I have several ancestors that are reported to be from Parham, Somerset, England (circa 1500-1600). I have only been able to find records of a Parham in Suffolk, England. Is there a source that would help me pinpoint the location and learn the modern-day name of this area?

Hello,

There is another Parham, in West Sussex. The property was bought in 1540 by Robert Palmer, who was then living at Fairfield, Somerset. Parham has its own website, www.Parhaminsussex.co.uk, and its archives are at West Sussex Record Office. They can be searched online at www.westsussex.gov.uk/ro, and follow the link to Searchonline. If you have any queries, write to me as the archivist for them at Caroline.adams@westsussex.gov.uk
