I noticed that from 1806, a salary was paid directly to the servant who was designated Lamp Lighter and Coal Porter. British History Online has the dates going up to 1854.

I want to know, would someone working as a Coal Porter, still have got this salary as a servant in 1911?

Or could a Coal Porter, be someone moving the coal in the yard, or delivering the coal for a Coal company?
