PRAYERS.

The King to be attended with the Petition against Priests and Jesuits.

The Lord Chamberlain gave the House this Account: "That the Duke of Albemarle and himself have attended His Majesty, to know His Pleasure, when both Houses of Parliament should attend Him, to deliver the Petition against Jesuits and Romish Priests: And it is His Majesty's Pleasure, that both Houses wait upon Him this Afternoon, at Four of the Clock, in the Banqueting House at Whitehall."

Message to H. C. concerning it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Thomas Bennett and Sir Justinian Lewyn Knights:

To let them know, that their Lordships have received His Majesty's Pleasure, that both Houses wait upon Him this Afternoon, at Four of the Clock, in the Banqueting House at Whitehall.

ORDERED, That those Committees which are appointed to meet this Afternoon are adjourned till Tomorrow in the Afternoon.

Marq. of Worcester's Water Engine Bill.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act to enable Edward Marquis of Worcester to receive the Benefit and Profit of a Water-commanding Engine by him invented, One Tenth Part whereof is appropriated for the Benefit of the King's Majesty, His Heirs and Successors."

The Question being put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

The Messengers return with this Answer:

Answer from H. C.

That they have delivered their Message to the House of Commons.

Punishment of the Republican Party.

The House took into Consideration the applying of a safe Remedy for Discovery, and securing the Kingdom from the Danger, of the Republican Party.

But nothing came to an absolute Resolution, though divers Things were proposed in order to that Purpose.

Order to be left with Lords who have not paid their Subscriptions of free Benevolence to the King.

The Lord Ashley, as Chancellor of the Exchequer, made Report this Day to the House, "That Mr. Clotterbuck, the Receiver of the Monies subscribed by the Peers of this Kingdom for the free Benevolence to the King, hath given his Lordship an Account, that there is but One Hundred Pounds yet paid in since the last Direction of this House; and that there is above Five Thousand Pounds behind and unpaid:" And therefore offered it to their Lordships Consideration, what Course was to be taken, to secure these Monies to His Majesty.

It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That concerning such of the Lords as have subscribed, and do not pay in their Monies by the Twentieth Day of April next, having had Notice thereof given them by Mr. Clotterbuck, a Duplicate of the said Subscriptions shall be returned into the Exchequer, and Process is there to be filed, according to Direction of the Act of Parliament in that Behalf made.

Adjourn.

Dominus Cancellarius declaravit præsens Parliamentum continuandum esse usque in diem Jovis, videlicet, 2um diem Aprilis, 1663, hora decima Aurora, Dominis sic decernentibus.
