To the sheriff of Lincoln. Order upon his allegiance and under pain of forfeiture to cause proclamation to be made, that all fencible and able bodied knights, esquires, men at arms, armed men and hobblers between the ages of sixty and sixteen, as well of the king's retinue as others of whatsoever estate or condition, be arrayed with all possible speed and furnished with horses, arms and armour according to their estate, means and possessions, and draw to the city of London, so that they be there at Michaelmas next at latest under pain of forfeiture of life and limb etc., to march with the king against the enemy for defence of the realm, and that all such men as are infirm of body, so that they are unable to travail, shall under like pain send in their stead other fencible men able of body who have not wherewithal to array and arm themselves; and order to commit to prison any whom they shall find rebellious after such proclamation, there to be kept in custody until the king shall take other order for their punishment; as the king has now newly heard particular reports, how that Charles his adversary of France and his allies have gathered their power and a great host, and are making disposition speedily to invade the realm and destroy the English tongue; therefore the king has taken counsel with the lords and great men of the realm, whom he has summoned for the purpose, being minded to resist, and by their advice has ordered that all men of his retinue and all other fencible men of the realm shall hasten to his person, to march with him in his army against the said enemy. Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 100l., made in chancery at Westminster 5 October 10 Richard II by Thomas White chaplain, Walter parson of St. Mary Bothowe London, John Rydelle and William Longe for John Neuport chaplain, imprisoned in the Flete prison for assent and upon suspicion of counterfeiting a forged collation produced in chancery of the house and church of Writle which pertains to the hospital of Santo Spirito, that he shall not by colour of the said collation hinder or trouble Nicholas de Aquila master of the said house and church in regard to his possession thereof, his goods or possessions, nor prosecute suits against him or his servants nor do them hurt or wrong.

Indenture of assignment to the king of a lease for fifty years of one bovate of land in Rodyngton with the advowson of Frampton church granted to the said Ralph and William by John de Nevylle lord of Raby, who after by charter granted to the king the reversion of the premises; and covenant that if any person to whom the king shall give the same, his heirs, successors or assigns, shall be hindered by the king or his heirs, the pope or his successors or by any other from presenting to the said church when void, it shall be lawful for the said Ralph and William, their executors and assigns to enter again and hold the said advowson and church, and to present thereto, this indenture notwithstanding. Indenture of gift of a yearly rent of 10l. for life, with power to distrain for arrears in all their lands and tenements in the city of London; and they have put him in possession by payment of 12d.: covenant that after his death the rent shall remain to Elizabeth Beauchamp for life, and bond to her in 100s. at each term of payment, that she may distrain as aforesaid for arrears and for such 100s. if the rent be one month in arrear, and for her damages and costs. Indenture of accord concerning a statute merchant made by John de Grymesby knight to Master William Cawode concerning which there was debate between them; namely that before Allhallows next the said John shall surrender to Robert his son and to his heirs all the lands etc. in Beles by which he holds by the courtesy of England after the death of Alice his wife, whose heir Robert is, that before Martinmas next the said Robert shall make a feoffment thereof to John Woderoue, William Hungate and John Cawode for life, so that if the feoffees shall die within twelve years their executors shall have the premises until that term, rendering to the said Robert and his heirs one peppercorn for all service, and after that term 40l. a year, and that before the feast of St. Andrew next the said feoffees shall make a demise of the premises for twelve years to the said John de Grymesby and Robert, rendering to the feoffees 10 marks a year for the first six years, and after six years one rose; and defeasance of a recognisance in chancery for 80l. made for greater security of Master William to the said feoffees by John de Grymesby, Robert, John Feriby and William Gremeston, upon condition that the said Robert make the feoffment aforesaid, and that John de Grymesby and Robert or their assigns pay the said yearly rent within six weeks after every term of payment, although during the term of six years the premises be thereof discharged or not.
