Memorandum that for 40s. by him paid in the hanaper the king has pardoned Lawrence Cotesmore late under sheriff of Oxfordshire and Berkshire, who on 18 August last made a recognisance to the king for 100l. payable at Michaelmas then next, under a condition for defeasance if he should appear in chancery in the quinzaine of Michaelmas last to content the king of his ransom for false imprisonment of Simon Callynge in Oxford castle, should not meddle in the office of under sheriff, and should keep the peace toward the said Simon; as he appeared at the quinzaine aforesaid, fulfilled all in the said condition contained, and submitted himself to the king's grace, wherefore the said recognisance is cancelled.

Charter with warranty of a piece of his wood of Langenhoo in the parish of Colmorth called the Croune, with hedges and ditches and a way leading thereto between the wood of the prior of Bisshemede and the wood of John Lorde. William Britteville (as before) to Amice Lorde and William vicar of Roxton, their heirs and assigns. Quitclaim with warranty of a grove called 'Gardyneresgrove' and a piece of wood lying above the same between the wood of the prior of Bisshemethe and 'Paynescroft' and abutting on the wood of the prior of St. Neots, also of all crofts at Langenhoo, with hedges, ditches etc., which the said Amice and the vicar had by his charter of feoffment. Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 100l., made in chancery 11 November this year by Gilbert Boteler, Henry Graycobbe, William Shirewode and John Castel for Thomas de Oldyngton clerk, that he shall make no suit or attempt in the court of Rome or elsewhere which may tend to the prejudice of the king or people, and especially of Master John Scardeburgh prebendary of the prebend lately held by Hugh de Wymondeswolde in the chapel of St. Mary and the holy Angels York; and of an acknowledgment made by the said John Scardeburgh, that he will not and ought not to prosecute a writ of premunire now pending against the said Thomas.

Memorandum that on 12 November, for half a mark paid in the hanaper, the king pardoned the abbot and convent of Boxle their contempt in taking no heed to send a strong horse not bought to the chancery to carry the chancery rolls, as the king commanded them to do, so that it should be there at a set day past to be delivered to the king's clerk John de Burton keeper of the said rolls; and in consideration of the present poverty of the abbey discharged them this time of sending the same.

Pope Urban to William abbot of the monastery of Westminster of the order of St. Benedict in the diocese of London, subject immediately to the church of Rome. Bull, upon his petition and petition of the convent, confirming the election of the said William, a monk of the abbey there professed and in priest's orders, upon the death without the court of Rome of Nicholas sometime abbot. Alice who was wife of Thomas Doyly, and William Doyly son and heir of the said Thomas, to William Harlyngrugge, his heirs and assigns. Charter with warranty of the whole wood called 'Harlyngruggewode' in Pyryton co. Oxford late of the said Thomas with the hedges and hays there, and of all the wood, groves, hays and hedges in that parish late of Geoffrey atte Dene and after of the said Thomas; and quitclaim with warranty of all plots (sortis), acres and selions of land and all lands in Pyryton lying between land of the grantee, and in a field called Stokkynge which lies by the highway, and in a croft called Clakkesle, with all hedges and hays, held for life by the grantee and Cicely his mother (now deceased) by grant of the said Thomas; also of all lands etc. called 'Hillelond' and 'Denelond,' and all other lands in the said parish by him held for life by grant of the said William Doyly. Order to take again their letters patent made to Henry Chandeler one of the yeomen of the king's chamber and Joan his sister concerning a maintenance for life in that abbey which they had at the king's command, to admit to that house John Pakeman and Margaret his wife, and grant them the said maintenance for their lives and the life of the longest liver, making and delivering to them letters patent with mention of what they shall receive, and writing again by the bearer what they will do; as with the assent of the said Henry and Joan the king has granted the same to the said John and Margaret. Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 4,000 marks, made in chancery 18 November 11 Richard II by Matthew de Gourney, Bernard Brocas, Thomas Tryvet and Degary de Sees knights for Ivo Fitz Waryn knight, and of an undertaking by the said Ivo, that he shall do or procure no hurt or harm to Ralph bishop of Salisbury, his men or servants.

The abbot of Oseneye to the prior of St. Frideswide Oxford. Recognisance for 100 marks, to be levied etc. in Oxfordshire.
Memorandum that the said abbot and prior have chosen William bishop of Winchester, Thomas bishop of Ely the chancellor and John bishop of Hereford the treasurer as arbitrators and judges, to take to them as assessors when they shall please the abbot of Waltham Holy Cross and John de Waltham clerk keeper of the privy seal, and before Michaelmas in September next to decide all strife and debate between the parties to this time for whatever cause real or personal; of a defeasance of the foregoing recognisance upon condition that the abbot of Oseneye and his convent shall fulfil their award; and of a covenant that before the quinzaine of Easter next the abbot shall shew them all evidences and plaints in writing which he will put forward on behalf of himself and the convent, after which date production shall be barred; with proviso for like defeasance if the award be not made before Michaelmas next.

Quitclaim with warranty of a messuage, one carucate of land with crofts, meadows, pastures, rents etc. in Blacolueslee which were of Thomas the father, a messuage with two crofts called 'Rodestones place,' two thirds of two virgates of land in 'Wodeblacolueslee' called Cullofres, all lands, woods etc. in Sewelle in the parish of Blacolueslee, and all lands, rents, woods etc. in the town and fields thereof which the said John has by feoffment of Thomas the son. Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 500 marks, made in chancery 29 November this year by John Leeke knight for William Chaworth knight, that he shall do or procure no hurt or harm to John Bouland and John de Felton clerks until the quinzaine of St. Hilary next, and for his good behaviour in the mean time.
Philip Bluet and Katherine his wife of the one part and Andrew de Burys, son and heir of Andrew de Burys of Suffolk, of the other part. Indenture witnessing a grant to the said Philip and Katherine for twelve years of a yearly rent of 22 marks, to be taken at Watforde co. Hertford of the said Andrew's manor of Brache, otherwise called Quaddon, or Knesworth, or 'Chaumberlaynlondes' in the towns of Quaddon, Knesworth and Brache in Cambridgeshire, namely 100s. at the Purification, 40s. at Easter, 100s. at Midsummer, and 4 marks at Michaelmas, the first payment to be made at the Purification next. Writ of supersedeas, by mainprise of Robert Caldecote parson of Brokhole, Robert Markele of London, Richard Ryver of London 'vynter' and Nicholas Ellerby of Yorkshire, in favour of Master John Maundour clerk, ordered to find mainpernors that he should not depart to foreign parts, nor send any man thither or procure any man to be sent in order to make suits or attempts to the hurt of the king's crown or dignity, to impair the laws and customs of the realm or to the damage of the people, upon an information that he purposed to depart in order to impugn the king's right, suing without the realm touching matters whereof cognisance pertains to the king.

Memorandum that this recognisance was for greater security for payment of a fine of 100 marks made 22 October this year by the prior and convent of Coventre for confirmation of letters of certain former kings, and for a grant of a messuage in Coventre, which sum by letters patent of 9 December following the king granted to John Thame clerk master (hospitator) of his household, wherefore this recognisance is not to be sent to the exchequer among the estreats.
