To the mayor and bailiffs of Sandewich, and to the collectors there of
3d. in the pound and 2s. upon every tun of wine, and of the subsidy of
12d. in the pound and 3s. upon every tun of wine. Order by advice
of the council, upon petition of Colestrinus de Nigris merchant of Genoa
(Janua) and merchant of a tarit of Genoa called the 'Gracia Dei,'
Anthony Centurionis of Genoa master or owner (patronus), to suffer
him without payment of any such customs or subsidies to take over
to Middelburgh in the said tarit or in other ships or vessels the wine
and merchandise therein which have not been removed, any previous
command etc. (as above, p. 542). |

To John Sibille escheator in Cambridgeshire. Order to remove
the king's hand and meddle no further with a yearly rent of 50s. of the
manor of Caldecote, delivering to the abbess of Berkynge, John Trayly
knight, Richard Grenacre and Robert Waryn any money thereof
taken; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator
of his office, that John bishop of Lincoln gave that rent to the abbess
and the others to be taken during the life of Margaret Aberforde a nun
of the abbess, and that the same is taken into the king's hand among
other lands etc. of Robert Bealknap knight, who forfeited to the king. |

To John Rokel escheator in Hertfordshire. Order to give John
Hevenyngham knight and Margery his wife, late wife of John Chalers
knight, livery in dower of the manor of Wedyhale, 4l. of rent of the manor
of Rede and a third part of the wood of that manor, which with assent
of William Castelacre knight, to whom he has committed the wardship
thereof, the king has assigned to the said Margery of the lands of her
former husband; as for a fine paid by John Hevenyngham the king
has pardoned his trespass in taking her to wife, and her trespass
in marrying him without licence of the king. |

To John Sibille escheator in Cambridgeshire. Order to remove
the king's hand and meddle no further with a messuage, a toft and
2 acres of land in Saham, and a toft and 9 acres of land in Fordham
held by Peter Everard who was outlawed at suit of John Coryngham
for debt, delivering to Alan Redhede otherwise called Everard any
issues thereof taken since the said Peter's death; as the king has
learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that the same are yet
in his hand, that the said Peter died on Monday after the Nativity of
the Virgin last, and that the said Alan, being son of Richard Everard
otherwise Redhede brother of Hugh Everard father of the said Peter,
is his next heir and of full age. |

To Thomas Forthryche, John de Catesby, Robert Prees and Walter
Carpenter clerks. Prohibition at their peril against any attempt
which may tend to contempt or prejudice of the king, or to disturb
the right of the crown, or the possession of Nicholas Heth the king's
clerk of the prebend or portion of Overhalle in the parish church of
Ledbury in the diocese of Hereford, which the king lately gave him,
being void and in the king's gift; as by virtue of that collation he has
obtained possession with concurrence of those whom the law required. |

To W. bishop of Durham and Cosmatus Gentil late the pope's collector
in England, and to their commissaries and deputies. Prohibition at
their peril against sending over to any foreign parts any fruits, oblations,
emoluments etc. of the collegiate church of St. John Beverley now or
hereafter collected by authority of the pope, or causing any to be sent
over, but order to safe keep the same until the strife and debate between
Alexander late archbishop of York and the chapter of Beverley shall
be allayed; as the king's highness is informed that by reason thereof
the late archbishop by his authority as ordinary sequestrated the fruits
etc. of that church, that the chapter appealed to the see of Rome,
that the cause is there pending, and that the said bishop and collector
have, by authority of the pope it is said, received and taken away the
said fruits etc., and are yet endeavouring so to do; and that church
is of the foundation of former kings and of the king's patronage, and
of his devotion to the confessor St. John, whose body is there buried,
the king's desire is that the church shall enjoy all liberties etc. thereto
granted. |

To the escheator in Herefordshire and the march of Wales adjacent.
Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the
manor of Coghan in the said march, delivering to Robert Coghan
whose fealty the king has taken any issues thereof received; as the
king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that Geoffrey
Coghan at his death held the same in fee tail of the heir of Edward
le Despenser knight tenant in chief of the late king, a minor in the
king's wardship, by the service of one rose a year, and that the said
Robert son of the deceased is his next heir and of full age. |

To the escheator in Sussex. Order to remove the king's hand and
meddle no further with a yearly rent of 54 marks to be taken of the
manors of Ponynges, Hangelton and Twynem, held of others than
the king, delivering to Agnes daughter of Robert Northwode knight
any money thereof taken; as the king has learned by inquisition,
taken by Robert Loxle late escheator, that Richard de Ponynges
knight tenant in chief long before his death granted her that rent for
life. |

Mandate to the keepers or farmers of the said manors for the time
being to pay the said Agnes the rent aforesaid during her life so long
as those manors shall remain in the king's hand, and the arrears since
the said Richard's death. |
