Westminster.
To the sheriffs of London. Order by mainprise of John Basset 'bruer,' John William 'sherman,' James Lincoln 'sherman' and John Pope 'sherman,' all of London, to set free David Dawe of London, imprisoned at suit of the king and John Tregolas 'brewere' for leaving the service of John Tregolas before the term agreed.

To the mayor and bailiffs of Sandewich. Order at their peril, upon petition of John Martyns of Bilbawe in the realm of Castille, to deliver to him a barge of his called 'le Seint Nicholas' of Bilbawe with the freight and all the gear and the goods etc. therein, as by law ought to be done, in whose hands soever the same may be found, and if there be reasonable cause wherefore they ought not so to do, order to certify the king thereof before the quinzaine of Easter next; as on 9 March last William Leighe, William Canoun, William Cundy, John Stace of Hethe, John Couper master of a ship of Colcestre and William Fratyn of Calais took the said barge at sea and brought it to Sandewich, and are there unlawfully detaining it as the king has learned. To Richard de Grey of Codenore the king's admiral to the northward, or to his lieutenant. Writ of supersedeas in respect of any process against John Tuttebury and William Terry of Kyngeston upon Hull merchants, and order to send before the king and council the record and process of a cause in the admiralty court between Thomas earl of Arundell and the said merchants, which are with the admiral and lieutenant as the king has learned; as by advice of the council the king has taken the matter thereof into his own hand. Order to pay to Thomas Cristofore the king's serjeant, one of the yeomen of his chamber, 10l. a year for life and the arrears since 12 February 3 Henry IV, on which date the king granted the said Thomas for life 10l. a year of the issues and revenues of those counties. Order to pay to William Dodmore 'harpour' 10l. a year for life and the arrears since 29 November 1 Henry IV, on which date the king confirmed letters patent whereby for good service the late king granted to the said William his serjeant for life 10l. a year of the fee farm of the city of London.

To William de Meer, William Rose, Walter Blount, John Archer and William Nocaseke master mariners of Fowy and Tudro. Order at their peril to deliver to Domingo de Lugades or to his attorney a barge called the 'Seint Johan' of St. Sebastian, whereof he is master, with the freight and gear thereof, safe keeping until further order the goods and merchandise therein taken, spending or eloigning nought, and if there be reasonable cause wherefore they ought not so to do, order that they or two of them shall be in person before the king and council at Westminster in the quinzaine of Easter next in order to give full information concerning the same; as the king is informed that lately the said barge laded with wine and other merchandise was by them unlawfully taken at sea contrary to the present truce, and is yet in their custody. Order to suffer Edmund earl of Stafford by himself and his deputies to take to his castle of Huntyngdoun in Wales four and twenty whole bacenets, twelve hauberks, twelve 'brestplates,' twelve 'vaumbraces,' twelve 'rerebraes' (sic) and twelve pairs of gloves of plate bought and purveyed in the city of London for stocking (stuffura) of the said castle, any former command of the king to the contrary notwithstanding.
April 9.

To the customers or collectors of the petty custom in the port of London for the time being. Order to pay to Alfonso de Monterre the king's knight 40l. a year for life and the arrears since Easter 2 Henry IV; as by letters patent of 2 August 2 Henry IV the king granted him for life from Easter then last 40l. a year of the said custom.

Eltham manor.
To the keepers of the passage in the port of London. Order to suffer John de Coloyn the king's esquire carrying letters of the king to Rodes to pass thither in that port with one servant, any former command of the king to the contrary notwithstanding, provided he take with him nought to the prejudice of the king or realm. Westminster.
To John de Welton escheator in Norhamptonshire. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the castle and manors of Assheby David and Chaddeston, delivering to Reynold Braybroke knight and Joan his wife any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned by divers inquisitions, taken by the escheator, that Gerard Braybroke knight died 1 February last, that at his death he held no lands in that county in chief in his demesne as of fee nor in service, but that Robert bishop of London, Gerard Braybroke knight the younger, William Thirnyng, John Hervy and John Boun were seised of the said castle and manors, and demised the same to the deceased, by name of Gerard Braybroke knight the elder, and to Isabel his wife for their lives, so that if they should die within ten years their executors should have the same for that term, that by virtue of the said grant the said Gerard the elder and Isabel were seised of the estate aforesaid, that by another deed the said bishop and the others granted the reversion of the premises to the said Reynold and Joan and to the heirs male of their bodies, under a condition that, if John son and heir of Robert Hemenale knight (militis) should die without issue, that estate of remainder should utterly cease, but they should have an estate therein for life only, remainder to the heirs male of the body of the said Gerard the elder, remainder to the heirs male of the body of the said Reynold, remainder to the right heirs of Gerard the elder, that Gerard the elder and Isabel attorned tenants to the said Reynold and Joan, that Isabel died in the life time of her husband, that John son of Robert de Hemenale is dead without issue, that the said term of ten years is expired, and that the said castle and manors are held of others than the king.

To the mayor of London and the customers in that port. Order without taking custom or subsidy to suffer Edward duke of York by his deputies and servants to lade in a ship and take over to Gurry castle in the island of Jeresey and Cornet castle in the island of Gernesey six whole bacenets, two hauberks, three 'brestplates,' three pairs of gloves of plate, three pairs of 'vaumbraces,' eighteen lances, thirty bows and thirteen sheaves of arrows bought and purveyed in the city of London for furnishing the said castles, any ordinances, proclamations or commands to the contrary notwithstanding.
April 19.

To the mayor and bailiffs of the Pole. Order, upon petition of James Pieressoun merchant of Lescluse, master and owner of a crayer called 'le Gabrielle' of Lescluse, to deliver to him the said crayer and 26 tuns of wine of la Rochelle of his with all that is due to him for freight of other wines therein, suffering him to dispose thereof as of his own goods, and at their peril safe keeping those other wines until by the king and council it shall be debated to whom they ought to pertain; as he has shewn the king that at Rochelle the crayer was lately laded with his said wine and other wines of la Rochelle of divers other persons, that he would have brought it so laded to Flanders, and that on the voyage it was taken at sea by certain lieges of the Pole, contrary to the present truce, brought to the town of the Pole, and is there unlawfully detained. To Robert Claydoun keeper of the hanaper of chancery. Order without taking the great fee for the seal to deliver to Francis de Courte the king's knight letters patent of 4 November last, whereby the king has granted to the said knight and Joan his wife and to the heirs male of their bodies the reversion after the death of Thomas Percy earl of Worcester of 100 marks a year of the issues and profits of the castle and county of Pembroke, the castles and lordships of Tyneby and Kilgarun and of the commote of Hosterloue, which the said earl has for life by grant of the king.
April 26.

To the farmer or occupier of the manor of Wyrardesbury co. Bukingham for the time being. Order to pay to Robert Johanson the king's serjeant, yeoman of his buttery, 100s. a year for life and the arrears since 27 December last, on which date the king granted to the said Robert for life 100s. a year of the issues and profits of that manor.

To the collectors or farmers of the petty custom in the port of London for the time being. Order to pay to Richard Cliderowe the king's esquire 80l. a year for life and the arrears since 26 May 1 Henry IV, on which date the king granted him for life 80l. a year of the said custom in recompense for the office of measurer of woollen cloths and canvas within the city of London which he had for life by grant of the late king, and may not have because the king has granted the same to Robert Sherwynde mercer of London for life.

To the chief butler or his representative in the port of Kyngeston upon Hull for the time being. Order of the king's prise of wines in that port to deliver to Thomas Swynforde knight and Joan his wife for their lives and to the longest liver of them two tuns of wine a year which, at the prayer of Katherine the king's mother who was wife of his father and at theirs the king has granted them.

To the abbot and convent of St. Albans for the time being. Order to pay to John Fower the king's serjeant 100s. a year for life and the arrears since 31 January 3 Henry IV, on which date the king granted him for life by their hands 100s. a year of a yearly farm which they are bound to render by reason of the vacancy of the abbey.

To Master William Jolyfe clerk. Order under a pain of 40l. to cease every excuse and, leaving all else, to be in person in chancery in the quinzaine of Easter next, there to find security that he shall do or procure no hurt or harm to Robert Markham, his men or servants, nor fire his houses, and under the same pain to do them no such hurt etc. in the mean time.
April 18.
Westminster.
To the mayor of Coventre. Order to suffer William Swetenham burgess of Coventre to go at large, as one in whom the king has trust, dearresting all his goods; as by virtue of a commission to the prince, the king's son, upon information to the king by way of suspicion concerning the king's estate, the said burgess and his goods are arrested; and he being haled to the king's presence at the manor of Eltham has declared himself the king's true liege, and so the king reckons him in consideration of good and willing service from the coronation until now travailing in company of the king in Wales and elsewhere. To the chief butler for the time being, or his representative in the port of Sandewich. Order to deliver to Thomas Fogge of Kent the king's knight two tuns of wine a year during his life, and the arrears since 6 February 3 Henry IV, on which date the king granted him for life two tuns a year of the king's prises of wine in the said port.
April 30.
Westminster.
To the sheriff of Hertford and Essex for the time being. Order every year to pay to Roger Brede of 'Seint Auban' the king's serjeant 6d. a day during his life, and to pay him the arrears since 13 March 1 Henry IV, on which date for good service the king granted him for life 6d. a day of the issues and profits of the said counties.
