James Billyngforde, William Champeneys and John Alderforde to John Toly and William Beauchamp. Recognisance for 100l., to be levied etc. in Norffolk.

To the sheriff of Essex. Order to give notice to Thomas archbishop of Canterbury to be in chancery in the octaves of Michaelmas next in order to shew cause wherefore there ought not to be a stay pending the appeal of Roger Mylleman otherwise Myllere of Colcestre in the diocese of London, writ of supersedeas, and order by mainprise of John Leyre of Stokeneylande co. Suffolk, John Megge, Adam Frammesden and John Hore of Essex to set the appellant free, if taken; as at the request of the archbishop, signifying that by his authority as ordinary the said Roger was excommunicated for contumacy, not willing to be justified by censure of the church, the king ordered the sheriff to justify him by his body until he should content holy church for his contempt and wrongdoing; but he has appealed to the papal see and for protection of the court of Canterbury, and is purposed to prosecute his appeal as he avers, and the king has given him the day aforesaid; and John Leyre and the others have mainperned in chancery to have him there at that day.

Like writ, mutatis mutandis, by mainprise of Roger Albryghton clerk, John Wynkeburne and Richard Sutton of Middlesex and John Grevet of Sussex, in favour of John Clever a layman of the diocese of Cicestre, who has appealed to the court of Canterbury against a like sentence of Robert bishop of Cicestre.
Robert Mortymer citizen and hostiler of London and Joan his wife to Sir Robert Broom rector of St. John Baptist Walbroke London, William Northampton clerk and John Sewarde 'scolemayster,' their heirs and assigns. Release of all actions real and personal by reason of the warranty in a charter of feoffment made by the said rector, William and John to Robert Mortymer and Joan, their heirs and assigns, of a piece of meadow by the river called the Leye in the town and parish of Edelmeton co. Middlesex containing 9 acres as shewn by metes and bounds, and of one acre of meadow in Edelmeton marsh between the meadow sometime of Roger de Depham on the south and that sometime of John atte Pole on the north. Dated 20 June 5 Henry IV.

Writ of supersedeas omnino in respect of any process against Margaret who was wife and is executrix of Roger Hillary knight, appointed with others to make inquisition concerning waste, sale and destruction in Kynfare forest co. Stafford, and against other his executors, his heirs and the tenants of his lands, but order to proceed against others who did meddle therein; as that commission came never to the hands of the said Roger, as Nicholas Leuesoun has made oath in chancery.
Memorandum of a mainprise made in chancery 14 June this year by Thomas Maynelde of London and Robert Coventre for Philip de Albertis merchant, that he shall lay out upon buying of merchandise within the realm all moneys by him now or hereafter received for the sake of exchange, and not send them to foreign parts.

Writ of supersedeas until the quinzaine of Michaelmas next in respect of their demand upon Edmund Bekynham warden of the college called 'Merton Halle' in Oxford and the scholars thereof, or upon the escheator, to answer for the issues of a hospital in the king's demesne manor of Basyngstoke co. Suthampton, founded of old time by the king's forefathers and after amortised to the said college it is said, which hospital is for particular causes taken into the king's hand by John Chamflour late escheator; as a plea is yet pending without debate before the king between the king and the said warden and scholars concerning that hospital.
Robert Kyngeston, son and heir of Henry Kyngeston of Herefelde co. Middlesex, to Richard Baynarde, John Stonden and Walter Gautroun, their heirs and assigns. Charter with warranty of all his lands, rents and services in the town and parish of Herefelde, with woods, commons, ways etc. as enclosed with hedges and ditches. Witnesses: William Swanlond, John Baldwyn, William Brekespere, Richard Prentys, Walter Gadesdoun. Dated Herefelde, 1 July 5 Henry IV.
