Aug. 9.
Newark.
Thomas Payn of Eykerynge and William Payn chaplain, to Roger de Silkeston, otherwise called Roger Souter of Sutton upon Asshefeld. Recognisance for 10l., to be levied etc. in Notynghamshire.
Defeasance thereof, upon condition that they pay 20s. on Michaelmas day and 20s. at Christmas, and that the said William content the said Roger for the healing of the said Roger's left hand broken of malice by the said William.
Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 40l., made in chancery 9 August this year by John Baxster of Newerke, Thomas Payn of Eykerynge and Hugh Bosoun parson of Haukesworth for the said William, and of an undertaking by him under the same pain, that he shall do or procure no hurt or harm to the said Roger and to Amice his daughter, late the wife of William Walker.

Order to the sheriff of Salop for election of a coroner instead of Thomas de Whytton esquire, who is too sick and aged.
Vacated, because upon the same roll, on the face of it (infra).

To the sheriff of Stafford. Writ of supersedeas, by mainprise of William Waterfalle of Staffordshire and William Palmer of Salop, in favour of Hugh Wyan 'fleccher' at suit of Roger Goderiche for debt.
Like writ to the same sheriff in favour of the said Hugh at suit of John Bate of Tamworth for trespass.

To James Bolers, Richard Assheby, John Wodeford, Thomas Derby and John Purle, appointed to make inquisition in Leycestershire what evildoers and breakers of the peace slew Robert Horne at Melton Moubray, how, and at whose procurement, and who after knowingly harboured them. Writ of supersedeas until further order.

To the sheriff of Norhampton. Writ of supersedeas, and order by mainprise of Robert de Wermyngton of Norhamptonshire, John Raulyns and John Wilby of Norffolk to set free Thomas Fyssh, if taken at suit of the king and Thomas Herfrey for leaving the service of Thomas Herfrey before the term agreed.

To the sheriffs of London. Writ of supersedeas omnino, by mainprise of John Sandyford, Geoffrey Netlam, Robert Sandyford of Lancashire and John Pygot of Yorkshire, in favour of William de Hylton of Lancashire esquire and Joan his wife at suit of John Oxoundoun citizen and draper of London for debt.

Writ of supersedeas in favour of Simon Taillour, Thomas Brokhole, William Gilbertson, Clement Brokhole, Nicholas Whytynge, John Colles of Northtofte, William Bryghtwell 'taillour' and William Watford (fn. 1), and order by mainprise of William Grendoun, Henry Clifton, Thomas Beleofte and William Prudde of Cotesbroke, all of Norhamptonshire, to set the defendants free, if taken at suit of Robert Botevyleyn for trespass.

Writ of supersedeas, by mainprise of William de Ruston 'mercer,' John Saundreson 'glasier,' John Cadby 'goldsmyth,' all of York, and John Whithevede of Surrey, in favour of Richard de Cotyngham 'flesshewere' and Thomas Lincoln 'flesshewere,' both of York, at suit of William de Ryther knight for debt.
Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 40l., made in chancery 9 August this year by Thomas de Mapurle, Thomas Boteller of Newerke, Nicholas Hickelynge and John Morle of Notynghamshire for William Clerke of Gedelynge, that he shall do or procure no hurt or harm to Robert Broustere and Alice his wife, sometime wife of Ralph Cooke, their men or servants.

To the sheriff of Norhampton. Writ of supersedeas omnino, and order by mainprise of John atte Welle and Thomas Piry of Norhampton to set free John Forte 'sherman,' if taken at suit of the king and John Palmer 'sherman' for leaving John Palmer's service at Norhampton before the term agreed, contrary to the ordinance of the late king and council.
