York.
To the sheriff of Salop. Order to cause proclamation to be made, that all who have for three whole years held 40l. a year of land or rent and are not knights shall at their peril before the morrow of the Purification next at latest take upon them the order of knighthood; and order before that day to make inquisition and certify in chancery the names of such men. Westmorland.
Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 100l., made in chancery 24 July this year by John Golofre, John Mountagu knights, William Naferton and John Pikenham for William Clifton, and of an undertaking by him under the same pain, that he shall do or procure no hurt or harm to Thomas Overton parson of Assheton.
