John Hargrove the king's serjeant is sent to the prior and convent of St. Germans in Cornwall, to take of that house such maintenance as John Gardyner in his life time had by command of the late king.

The chancellor of the university of Oxford of the king's foundation and patronage, and the assembly of regents and non-regents and of other the students his lieges to the king. Proxy in favour of Master Thomas Hendeman the chancellor, Masters Thomas Merke, Thomas Cranlegh, Ralph Rudruth and Thomas Everard professors of sacred theology, to express their devotion to the king, and the submission of the university to his will in respect of all wrongs, rebellions, trespasses etc. committed by any members of the same. Writ of supersedeas omnino in respect of any process against Thomas Hercy knight, appointed with others by letters patent of 8 November 16 Richard II to make inquisition in Notynghamshire upon an information that a chest full of gold and silver was by Joan wife of William Helwys of Allerton found hidden under ground at Twyforde in the cellar of a certain chaplain, that she [gave] it to John Silake chaplain her brother, that he occupied the same, and that it ought to pertain to the king by reason of his prerogative, and to hear and determine the matter, but order to proceed against others who did meddle therein; as that commission was not delivered to the said Thomas, neither did he meddle in aught therein contained, as he has made oath in chancery.

Writ of supersedeas omnino in respect of their demand upon Joan who was wife of Edmund de Thorp the father, now deceased it is said, or upon Edmund de Thorp his son and heir, being tenants of the lands of the said Edmund, who was with others appointed a guardian of the peace and justice of oyer and terminer in Norffolk, for delivery of any estreats of the sessions of those justices, and order to discharge them, proceeding nevertheless against such as did meddle therein; as that commission was never delivered to the said Edmund, neither did he meddle in aught therein contained, as his said son has made oath in chancery.
To the same. Like writ in respect of a commission [to the said Edmund] with others to make inquisition in Norffolk by whose default the walls, dikes, gutters, sewers, bridges, causeways, weirs and lodes there in 'Mersshelande' between 'Catesbanke' and the 'Fennemede' in Tylneye were so broken in divers places by ebb and flow of the sea and flooding of fresh water that damage has happened for lack of repair.

Writ of supersedeas in respect of their demand upon John Howard knight, appointed with others a justice to make inquisition in Cambridgeshire and Norffolk by whose default the walls etc. on the borders of those counties between the rivers of Wysebeche and Welle were so broken etc. (as above), for any estreats concerning that commission, and order to discharge him, proceeding nevertheless against such as did meddle therein; as he meddled not in aught in that commission contained, having no knowledge of it, as Simon Baret attorney general of the said John, who is in Ireland on the king's service, has made oath in chancery. Writ of supersedeas omnino in respect of any process against John Drax serjeant at arms, appointed with others to make inquisition in Kent what evildoers and breakers of the peace laid wait for Robert Barton of London at Charlton in a place called 'Shetereshille,' and there slew him, robbing him of goods and chattels of no small value, how, when, and at whose procurement, who knowingly harboured them etc., but order to proceed against others who did meddle therein; as that commission came not to the serjeant's hands, neither did he meddle in aught therein contained, as he has made oath in chancery.

Receipt for 100l., in full of 540 marks due to the said William for the sale to the said John and others of the reversion of the manor and advowson of Stretton otherwise Stratton after the death of Katherine who was wife of John Lucy. Henry de Percy earl of Northumberland, John de Leuesham, William de Roudoun, William de Askby clerks and Hugh de Arderne of Dryffelde of the one part and Ralph de Crumewelle knight of the other part. Indenture witnessing a quitclaim with warranty of the manor of Tofte by Wytham co. Lincoln which was of Mary late wife of Sir John de Roos of Hamlake by the said Ralph made to the earl etc., their heirs and assigns, with proviso that the effect of that warranty shall be to bar any suit of the said Ralph and his heirs, and not that they shall be vouched to warranty, or make up the value by writ of warranty of charter or otherwise. Dated 12 February 18 Richard II.
Ralph de Crumwelle knight lord of Tateshale to Ralph de Percy, son of Henry de Percy earl of Northumberland, and to the heirs of his body. Indenture witnessing the confirmation with warranty of the estate in the manor of Dronfelde co. Derby which Ralph de Percy has by fine levied in the king's court, whereby Ralph de Crumwell and Maud his wife granted the same to him and the heirs of his body; and proviso (as in the last) while that estate shall endure. Dated Dronfelde, 20 May 18 Richard II.

Memorandum of an oath made severally in chancery 1 September 19 Richard II by William Dyvet, Nicholas Taillour, Nicholas Poucher and William Steynour of Notyngham as follows:
'I Willyam Dyvet befor yhow worschipefull fader and lorde archbisshop of Yhorke and yhour clergie with my free wyll and full avysede swere to Gode and to all his seyntes upon this holy gospells yat fro this day forthwarde I shall worship ymages with preying and offering unto hem in the worschip of the seintes yat yey be made after, and also I shal nevermor despyse pygremage ne states of holy chyrche in no degree, and also I shall be buxum to ye lawes of holy chirche and to yhowe as myn archbysshop and to myn oyer ordinaries and curates, and kepe ye lawes upon my power and meynten hem, and also I shall never more meynten [ne techen] ne defend [errours] conclusions ne techynges of ye lollardes ne swych conclusions and techynges yat men [clopith Lollards doctrin], ne I shall her bokes ne swych bokes ne hem or ony suspeit or diffamede of [lollardery resceyve or company] withall wyttyngly or defende in ye maters, and if I knowe ony swych I shall [withall the haste that I may do] yhowe or els your ner officers to wyten and of her bokes, and all so I shall excite and [stirre all tho to good doctrine that] I have hinderd with myn doctryn up my power, and also I shall stonde to yh[our] decl[aration which is heresy or error, and] do yerafter, and also what penance yhe woll for yat I have don for meyntenyng of [this false doctryne enjoyne me] I shall fulfill it, and I submit me yerto up my power, and also I shall make [no other glose of this myn oth] bot as ye wordes stonde, and if it be so yat I com agayn or do agayn this oth or any party [therof, I yelde me here] cowpable as an heretyk, and to be punyshed be ye lawe as an heretyk, and to forfeit all [my goodes to the kings will] wythowten ony othir processe of lawe, and yer to I require ye notarie to make of all this [the which is my will an instrument against] me.'

Master William de Waltham and George Louthorp clerks, to whom by letters patent of 8 February 18 Richard II the king granted the keeping of the alien priory of Cameryngham and of all lands and possessions thereto belonging, in the king's hand by reason of the war, rendering to the king 10l. a year, to Richard abbot of St. Mary Hulton co. Stafford and to his successors. Grant and surrender of their estate therein and in all lands, churches, possessions etc. thereto belonging, and quitclaim thereof, the king having after by letters patent of 9 June 18 Richard II granted licence to the abbot and convent of Blaunclande in Normandy of the power of France to give the said priory to the said abbot of Hulton and his successors, by name of the manor of Cameryngham otherwise called the priory or Cameryngham, with all lands, rents, fees, services, advowsons etc. thereto belonging, discharged of the 10l. aforesaid and of all other services, which were parcel of the possessions of the said alien abbey, and the abbot of Blaunclande having made a gift thereof accordingly. Stafford and the convent and to their successors the manor of Cameryngham, otherwise called the priory of Cameryngham, with all lands, rents, fees, services, pensions, reversions, liberties and possessions thereto belonging, and the advowson and patronage of Cameryngham church, which was appropriated to them and to their church of St. Nicholas Blaunclande it is said, and of the vicarage, and licence to the abbot and convent of Hulton and their successors to appropriate and hold the said church, the union thereof with the abbey of Blaunclande being dissolved, as fully as the abbot and convent of Blaunclande had the same, discharged of the farm of 10l. a year and of all other farms, rents, tenths, quotas etc., even as were the abbot and convent of Blaunclande before the same came to the king's hands, reciting that the said manor or priory, lands, advowsons etc. were in the king's hand by reason of the war with France, and were committed to farm to the said Master William and George, so long as the war should last, by name of the keeping of the alien priory of Cameryngham with all lands and possessions thereto belonging, rendering 10l. a year at the exchequer, finding the divine services there appointed of old time, paying with the clergy tenths and other quotas when granted, maintaining the houses and buildings, and bearing other charges so long as they should have the keeping of the same, and granted licence to the abbot and convent of Hulton to receive and hold the same to them and their successors, notwithstanding any causes, matters or things above mentioned, the statute of mortmain, or that the manor or priory, lands etc. or parcel thereof are held in chief, were in the gift or collation of the king or his forefathers, or were by them given to the abbot and convent of Blaunclande, the priors of Cameryngham or their predecessors to do, find or maintain chantries, hospitality or works of piety, or other cause or matter whatsoever affecting the king or his heirs; and by virtue of that licence by charter under the common seal of their house the abbot and convent of Blaunclande have given the said priory with all lands etc. to the manor or priory belonging and the advowson etc. aforesaid and all appurtenances in England to the abbot and convent of Hulton and to their successors, with all manner of tithes, oblations, obventions, mortuaries and profits to the rectory pertaining, and on 10 August last the grantees obtained possession thereof, as the king is informed by witness of the said Master William one of the farmers of the same. Proviso that answer be made by the said farmers for the issues or farm of the manor or priory, lands etc., and for any arrears thereof until that date.

Memorandum that on 7 October this year at his castle of Wyndesore upon a chamber called 'le Revelyngchaumbre' the king gave command to Thomas archbishop of York the chancellor on his departure to deliver the great seal, until then in his keeping, to John de Scarle keeper of the chancery rolls; and by virtue of that command on Friday next following in a chamber on the south side of the castle opposite the royal hall the chancellor delivered the same to the said John sealed up in a leathern bag under his own seal, and he received it of the chancellor, and took it with him to his lodging in the suburb of London called 'le Converse inne'; and after on Saturday following at Westminster in the White Hall in a place appointed for the chancery, in presence of Thomas de Middelton, John de Roderham, William Roudoun, John Wakerynge, Nicholas Bubbewythe and Simon Gaunstede clerks and great number of others, clerks and laymen, the said John caused the bag to be opened, the seal to be drawn forth, and charters, letters patent and writs to be therewith sealed; and this done caused it to be sealed up in the bag under his seal, and so day after day caused to be sealed such things as were for sealing in the aforesaid place and elsewhere in presence of the chancery clerks and others.
