To Thomas bishop of Durham or his chancellor. Order, upon petition of the plaintiffs, to proceed to take an assize of novel disseisin concerning a third part of the manor of Herdwyke by Segefelde, a messuage, 30 acres of land and 3 acres of meadow in Butterwyk, and a moiety of the manor of Aldacres, by Robert de Burton of Scarburgh and Alice his wife arraigned against William de Fulthorp knight, Robert Thurnef,' Richard Pynge chaplain and John Nicholson before Ralph de Eure and his fellows the bishop's justices of assize in that county, the allegation of William de Fulthorp notwithstanding, so that they proceed not to rendering of judgment without advising the king; as the said William appeared in person, Robert Thurnef' by Thomas de Fulthorp his attorney, and the other defendants appeared not, but Richard Beverley answered for them as their bailiff, and the said William as tenant of the tenements put in view averred that they are all in Herdwyke and Butterwyke, that the late king by letters patent produced, dated Redynge 11 December 13 Richard II, with assent of the great council gave the premises among other lands, which were of Roger de Fulthorp his father and came to that king's hands by his father's forfeiture, to the said William, his heirs and assigns, covenanting that if the same or any parcel thereof should without fraud or covin be recovered, or they should be evicted therefrom, due recompense should be made them by that king or his heirs, and said that he is tenant thereof by grant of the late king, craving aid of the king, wherefore those justices have deferred to proceed.

To the treasurer and the barons of the exchequer. Order, upon petition of Robert Claydoun the king's clerk late keeper of the hanaper of chancery, to view and examine his account from 1 October 11 Henry IV to 17 August following, and if they shall find that he is charged with 103s. 4d. for the fines hereinafter mentioned, and that answer was made for the same, to discharge him thereof, although inserted twice over in the Original; as his petition shews that he charged himself with 10s. for a fine made 22 January that year by William Yeuerslay and Elizabeth his wife, 6s. 8d. for a fine made 10 January by John Page citizen and merchant of Norwich, 13s. 4d. for a fine made 20 March by Elmyng Leget and Alice his wife, 6s. 8d. for a fine made that day by Eleanor who was wife of Amery de Sancto Amando lord of Milbroke, 6s. 8d. for a fine made 1 April by Robert Stanshawe, 4 marks for a fine made 18 March by Philip Holman and John Swaldale, and 6s. 8d. for a fine made 8 June last by Roger Chesterfelde chaplain for certain writs, amounting to 103s. 4d., and that because by inadvertence those fines are inserted twice over in the Original of chancery delivered in the exchequer, the treasurer and the barons are minded to charge him a second time therewith as if they were different fines, which they are not; and by view of the rolls the king is assured that the first enrolments of the writs, which because of insufficiency were after corrected and enrolled anew under the first dates and for the same fines, are therein cancelled.

To the escheator in Wiltesir. Order to take of Walter Beauchamp and Elizabeth his wife, one of the daughters and heirs of Willelma who was wife of John Roches knight, security for payment of their relief at the exchequer, and to give them livery of so much as is in his bailiwick of the messuages, lands etc. hereinafter mentioned; as with their assent and assent of Nicholas Benton father of John Benton son of Joan her other daughter and heir, who is within age, and of John Burgh to whom the king committed the wardship of all her lands, the king has assigned to the said Elizabeth's purparty 200 acres of land in the manor of 'Estwynterslewe,' 46s. 8d. of rent issuing from certain lands in Berewyke Basset and Ricardeston whereof William Dawe and Maud his wife are tenants for life by demise of John Roches and Willelma with reversion to the grantors and their heirs, a messuage and one carucate of land in 'Westchesingbury,' certain lands in Knabwolle, a messuage and one virgate of land in Wynterbourne Basset, two messuages and three carucates of land, meadow, pasture and wood in Bromham, a yearly rent there of 67s. 6d., a yearly rent of 13s. 4d. issuing from lands in Chetewe whereof Geoffrey Driffelde is tenant for life (as above), a yearly rent of 2s. 10d. issuing from lands in Calne whereof John Trym, Roger Bocher and Thomas Bocher are tenants for their lives (as before), a yearly rent of 2s. issuing from lands in Whetham whereof Thomas Ballard and John Badecoke are tenants for life (as before), a yearly rent of 2s. 6d. issuing from a messuage and one virgate of land in Gotacre held by Thomas Baret, and 18s. of rent to be taken of the manor of Hardenhewisch, all in Wiltesir, the manor of Heyford at Bridge called Lamarys in Oxfordshire, and the manor of Offle and Putrechesbury in Hertfordshire; and the king has taken the fealty of the said Walter, and for 20s. paid in the hanaper has respited until the quinzaine of Easter next his homage due by reason of issue between him and the said Elizabeth begotten.
To the escheator in Oxfordshire. Like order, mutatis mutandis, concerning the manor of Heyford at Bridge which, among other manors and lands the king has assigned to the said Walter and Elizabeth, having taken the fealty of the said Walter and respited his homage until a day yet to come.
To the escheator in Hertfordshire. Like order concerning the manor of Offle and Putrechesbury.
To the escheator in Wiltesir. Like order, mutatis mutandis, to give them livery of such as are in his bailiwick of the knights' fees and parts of fees so assigned, namely one knight's fee in Hardenhewysch co. Wiltesir held by John Reynes knight, and a third part of one knight's fee in Langele by Hychen co. Hertford held by John Cokayn.
To the escheator in Hertfordshire. Like order, mutatis mutandis, concerning the third part (above mentioned), which among other fees and parts of fees the king has assigned to the said Walter and Elizabeth.
To the escheator in Wiltesir. Like order, mutatis mutandis, for livery of such as are in his bailiwick of the advowsons so assigned, namely the advowson of a mediety of Tollarde church co. Wiltesir, and Mersshe Baldyngton church co. Oxford.
To the escheator in Oxfordshire. Like order, mutatis mutandis, concerning the advowson of Mersshe Baldyngton church which, among other advowsons the king has assigned to the said Walter and Elizabeth.

Order to suffer Richard Whityngton by himself, his attorneys or deputies in the port of Lewes to lade in ships and take over to foreign parts 32 sarplers of wool, Thomas Symonde 40 sarplers, and John Mynne 12 sarplers, any command of the king to the contrary notwithstanding, first paying the customs, subsidies etc. thereupon due.

To John Derhurst escheator in Gloucestershire. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with a messuage, one virgate and 8 acres of land in 'Over Ryndecumbe,' delivering to Walter Snappe any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that William Willicotes at his death was joint tenant thereof with Walter Snappe, to them and the heirs of the said William, and held the same of the abbot of St. Mary Bruera.
To Ralph Arches escheator in Oxfordshire. Like order, mutatis mutandis, concerning 40s. of rent issuing from a messuage and one carucate of land in 'Northlye' and one carucate in Tylgarley and Eynesham, held of the abbot of Letteley for life by Margaret Paynell and Agnes her daughter, which rent by fine levied in the king's court the said William held jointly with Walter Snappe, to them and their heirs.

To Thomas Gower escheator in Worcestershire. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the manor of Hylle Crumbe, a messuage and one carucate of land in Kersewell, and a messuage and one carucate in Evenlode, delivering to Elizabeth late the wife of William Wyllicotes any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that at his death the said William held the same in her right, and that they are held of others than the king.
To the same. Like writ, mutatis mutandis, concerning a messuage and one carucate of land in Hylle Crumbe, which the said William held jointly with the said Elizabeth for their lives by demise of the prior of St. John of Jerusalem in England, and a livery of one boar and twenty swine fit for the larder, to be by them taken every year during their lives and the life of the longest liver in the manor of Bradewelle at Michaelmas by grant of the abbot and convent of Evesham.
To Ralph Arches escheator in Oxfordshire. Like order, mutatis mutandis, concerning a messuage, one carucate and 20 acres of land and 20 acres of meadow in Chastelton and Foukenende, a messuage, seven virgates and one carucate of land, 20 acres of meadow and 40s. of rent in Salforde, and a messuage, one carucate of land and 33s. 6d. of rent in Cornewelle held of others than the king to them and the heirs of the said William.
To the same. Like order, mutatis mutandis, concerning the manors of Chastelton and Salforde and the advowson of Salforde church, and a messuage and one carucate of land in 'Northlye' held in right of the said Elizabeth, and a messuage and half a virgate of land in Wevylcote which the said William held for life in her right of others than the king.
To the same. Like order, mutatis mutandis, concerning a messuage and 30 acres of land in Salforde, which the said William held jointly with Richard Maydegode and Walter Snappe of others than the king.
