To the collectors of customs and subsidies in the port of London,
and the keepers of the passage in that port. Order to suffer John
Lefaunet, master of a ship called the 'Seint Pier' of Venice, and
Robert de Lescarouz merchant thereof to lade in that ship, or
in another ship of Brittany, five thousand of tin and, after
payment of customs, subsidies etc. thereupon due to the king
and at Calais, to take the tin over to Brittany, any command of
the king to the contrary notwithstanding. By K. |

prince of Wales, duke of Cornwall and earl of Cestre, to whom the
king has committed the ward of the manor of 'Southmundham'
and Boghele which were (sic) of Thomas Jardyn until the lawful age
of John his son and heir, or of his attorneys, to assign to Thomas
atte Wode and Joan his wife, who was wife of Thomas Jardyn
tenant by knight service of the heir of Thomas late earl marshal a
minor in ward of the king, dower of the lands of Thomas Jardyn. |

To the treasurer and the barons of the exchequer. Order to
allow Henry Kays the king's clerk, keeper of the hanaper of
chancery, in his account 49l. 5s. 3d. by him delivered to Thomas
Beaufort the chancellor for the winter and summer livery of the
clerks of chancery against Christmas and Whitsuntide 12 Henry
IV over and above the usual sum because of the dearness of cloth,
furring and lining, and 4l. 9s. 6½d. paid to Robert Ragenhill clerk,
keeper of one part of the seal of the Common Bench, for his usual fee
from 18 August 11 Henry IV to 30 September last, for one whole
year and 44 days, as appears by letters of acquittance which he
has as he avers, any former command to the contrary notwithstanding, taking of him the said letters. |

To John Chuderlegh escheator in Devon. Order to give
William Talchet seisin of the moiety of a messuage and one
ferling of land in Denepriour; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that on 12 October 11 Richard II
Clarice daughter and heir of Mariot Brounker otherwise Bounker
one of the sisters and heirs of William Ram was thereof seised,
and was an idiot from birth, that many years before her death
she dowered thereof Margery sometime the wife of William Ram
her uncle, namely brother of Mariot her mother, namely of a third
part, being one of the heirs thereof after the death of William Ram
who was thereof seised during his wedlock with the said Margery,
that because of her idiocy the premises were seized into the late
king's hand and came to the hands of the king, that long after she
was dowered, namely on Wednesday before the Invention of Holy
Cross 6 Henry IV, the said Margery died, and that third part did
revert to the said Clarice, that the premises are held of another than
the king, that the said Clarice died on Palm Sunday 7 Henry IV,
and that William Talchet, being son of Margery sister of Mariot
mother of Clarice, is her cousin and next heir, and of full age. |
