Westminster.
To John Lanoy escheator in Somerset. Order to take the fealty of William son and heir of William de Botreaux knight and of Elizabeth his wife both deceased, and to give him seisin of the lands of his said father and mother, and of the lands of his heritage which Agnes who was wife of Nicholas Thurmonde held for her life; as he has proved his age before the escheator, and for 40s. paid in the hanaper the king has respited until the quinzaine of Easter next his homage due for the lands of his father and mother, and for those of his heritage which were held for life by Walter Clopton knight and John Houe both deceased.
To the escheator in Cornwall and Devon. Order to give the said William seisin etc.; as he has proved his age before John Lanoy, and for a fine paid in the hanaper the king has respited his homage until a day yet to come, and has commanded John Lanoy to take his fealty.

Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the manors of Norton, Foxton, Smeton Westorby, Grommondeley and Langton and the advowson of Langton church at every other vacancy, delivering to Margaret late the wife of Edward Latymer Bocharde any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that at his death her husband held the same as jointly enfeoffed with her by gift of John Stotusbury and others to them for life, and that they are held of others than the king.

To the treasurer and the barons of the exchequer. Order not to trouble John son and heir of Thomas de Clifforde knight nor suffer him to be troubled for his homage; as lately his age was proved before John Bertrame escheator in Northumberland, and for a fine paid in the hanaper the king respited until a day yet to come his homage for his father's lands, for the lands of his heritage held for life by Euphemia who was wife of Walter de Heselarton knight deceased after the death of Robert de Clifforde sometime her husband, and for those held in dower or otherwise for life by Maud who was wife of Roger de Clifforde father of the said Thomas, commanding livery of the same to be given him; and now the king has taken his homage. To Edward duke of York keeper of the forest this side Trent, or to his representative in the forest of Kyngeswode by Bristol. Order to deliver to bail Stephen Raunceclyf, John Doune, William Brom of Eston and John Shepherde of Stapelton, taken and imprisoned in Bristol castle for a trespass of venison in that forest it is said, if replevisable according to the assize of the forest.

To the escheator in the county of Suthampton. Order to give Margaret who was wife of John late earl of Somerset, one of the sisters of (the said) Edmund, being cousin etc. (as above), livery of the advowson of Bedhampton church extended at 20 marks a year which the king has assigned to her purparty, assigning also the advowsons of Ufforde church co. Norhampton at 10l., and of the hospital of St. John Donyngton co. Leycester at 10 marks.

To the collectors of customs and subsidies in the port of London, and to the keepers of the passage and the searchers in that port and in the ports of Gravesende and Sandewich. Order without taking custom or subsidy to suffer John de Samorra the king's esquire by himself or by others to take over to Castille two pieces of linen cloth of 'reynes,' two marks' worth of 'goldfoile' and 12 yards of cloth of scarlet given by the king to the queen of Castille his sister, and 8 yards of such cloth of scarlet bought by the said John for his own raiment. To the king's lieutenant in Ireland, or in his absence to his deputy there for the time being. Order in consideration of his long service and of his poor estate, and that he has nought else by grant of the king or of the late king, to suffer Lawrence Merbury the king's knight, his servants, deputies or attorneys from time to time, whether he be absent or there present, to have full payment of the sums of 30l. a year and 20l. a year hereinafter mentioned, and the arrears thereof, any ordinance heretofore made to the contrary notwithstanding; as by letters patent of 3 June 7 Henry IV under the great seal of England the king granted him for life, whether absent out of Ireland or present there, 30l. a year of the fee farm of the city of Waterforde by the hands of the mayor and bailiffs or of other the governor thereof for the time being, and that when present he might take the same by himself or his attorneys, and when absent by his deputies and their attorneys, and bring it to England to dispose of at his pleasure without let or impeachment, any statute or ordinance against absentees who have possessions in Ireland to the contrary notwithstanding; and by letters patent of 24 April 9 Henry IV under the seal of Ireland the king granted him for life for good and praiseworthy service 20l. a year of the fee farm of Droghda on the side of Uriel by the hands of the mayor and bailiffs or other the governors thereof for the time being, further granting that he might take and levy the same by himself, his servants, attorneys and deputies, and send it to England any statute or ordinance against absentees who have possessions, profits or annuities in Ireland notwithstanding; and for that in the parliament lately holden at Westminster order was made that every person who by gift of the late king or of the king had any revenue or profit in Ireland arising should there reside according to his estate under pain of forfeiting the same for three years from that date, taking no other wages in the mean time, the said Lawrence may not have payment of the said 50l. a year as he avers. To the escheator in Berkshire. Order to give Robert de Langeforde seisin of a messuage and one carucate of land in Aldeworth called the 'Bothe'; as it is found by inquisition, taken before Ralph Arches late escheator, that William Langforde knight at his death held the same of the abbot of Dorchestre by the service of 10s. a year, and that the said Robert is his son and next heir, and of full age; and the king has taken his homage and fealty due for all lands which the said William at his death held by the courtesy of England after the death of Anne mother of the said Robert, whose heir he is.
Dec. 22.

To the sheriff of Oxford. Order to set free John Kyngesmulle, taken and imprisoned in the prison of Oxford by virtue of a writ of statute staple to the late sheriff addressed at suit of the executors of Richard Herpole citizen and 'stokfysshmonger' of London for 12 marks; as he has lodged that sum in chancery for payment to them, and 26s. 8d. to them adjudged by that court for damages and costs.
