Members sworn.

THIS Day, about Nine of the Clock in the Forenoon, Edw. Earl of Worcester, Lord Steward of his Majesty's Houshold, so appointed for this present Parliament, came into the outward Room of the Commons House of Parliament; and there the Deputy Clerk of the Crown attending, and reading over the Names of the Knights, Citizens, Burgesses, and Barons of the Cinque Ports, which were returned, a Cryer of the Chancery called them over : And then his Lordship did swear those of the Privy Council, which were present, and about.. . of the Members of the House; and then made a Deputation to the Lord Cavendish, Mr. Treasurer of the Houshold, and others of the Privy Council, and to divers other Members of the House ; and then departed. After his Departure, his Deputies severing themselves, did swear divers other Members of the House, to the Number in all of. . . or thereabouts.

Sir H. Finch chosen Speaker.

Sir Heneage Finch, by the Proposition of Mr. Treasurer of the Household, was, by a general Acclamation of the whole House, called to the Chair.

He thereupon stood up, disabling himself, and desiring them to proceed to a new Choice.

But the House not accepting that Excuse, continued their calling him to the Chair; into the which he was fetcht by Mr. Treasurer of the Houshold, and Mr. Comptroller of the same.
