To Master Thomas de Spens, archdeacon of Moray, M.A. Appointing him, who is by both parents of noble race, and proposes to engage in the service of the pope and the Roman church, a notary of the pope and the apostolic see, with the enjoyment of all privileges etc. of apostolic notaries. To John Pursell, archdeacon of Lismore, bachelor of canon law, collector of dues of the apostolic camera in Ireland and nuncio of the apostolic see. Appointing him, during the pleasure of the pope and the apostolic see, nuncio of the said see in Ireland and collector-general of dues of the pope and the Roman church and the apostolic camera, with the usual faculties to exact, levy, receive etc. and give aquittance etc., and obligation to render his accounts every two years. He is to take the collector's oath to Lewis, cardinal priest of St. Laurence's in Damaso, the pope's chamberlain, or his lieutenant, and to receive the like oath from his sub-collectors. Ex fideli. Appointing him, who is also a doctor of canon law, and has been found fit by examination, for life a chaplain of the pope and of the apostolic see and a minor penitentiary in the basilica of the Prince of the Apostles, Rome and the Roman court, associating him hereby with John Segini [of Catalonia? ], Albert of Poland, Valentine of Hungary, Nicholas of Italy, Mark also of Italy, Walter of England, John of France, John Solerii also of Catalonia, and Raymund of France, now the pope's chaplains and minor penitentiaries in the said basilica and court (fn. 3).
