Mandate to collate and assign to Seanchanus alias Seanchan Ostingyn, clerk, of the diocese of Elphin (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of unmarried parents, to be promoted to all even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which he was received by authority of the ordinary as a canon of Elphin) the moiety of the tithes of the rural town of Cluayncomosg in the said diocese, which used to belong to the community of Elphin before it was separated and dissolved, and is wont to be assigned to a canon of the said church in the place of a canon's portion or prebend, as is still done when it becomes void, (fn. 2) value not exceeding 2 marks sterling, void because Milerus de Burgo, sometime a canon of the said church, has entered and made his profession as a canon of the monastery of St. Mary, Achcruym Omane, of the order of canons regular of St. Augustine, in the diocese of Clonfert; whether it be so void, or void by the death of Charles Yconchobayr or Dermit Meccillaruaid, or by the resignation of the said Milerus, or in any other way. Mandate to collate and assign to Patrick Ochaelti, priest, of the diocese of Derry, the perpetual vicarage of Atheochtaill (rectius Acheochcaill) in the diocese of Connor, value not exceeding 12 marks sterling, so long void, by the resignation of the late John Ochaelti made to the late bishop John and admitted by that bishop without the Roman court, that by the Lateran statutes its collation has lapsed to the apostolic see; summoning and removing John Macgillaranam, priest, of the said diocese, who for more than two years but less than three has detained it without any canonical title. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Dermit Ohactagan, clerk, of the diocese of Elphin, that Cornelius Ohactagan, perpetual vicar of Kyllearyi in that diocese, has committed simony and perjury and has dilapidated etc. its goods, and is much defamed thereof in those parts) if and after Dermit accuses Cornelius before the above canon, to summon Cornelius, and if he find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the vicarage, value not exceeding 4 marks sterling, to Dermit; whether it become void by such deprivation, or be void by the resignation of Thomas Yhactagan, priest, of the said diocese, or in any other way. To the archdeacons of Dunblane and Dunkeld and the provost of Abbirnethy in the diocese of Dunblane. Mandate, as below. The recent petition of the abbot and convent of St. Mary's Lindores, O.S.B., in the diocese of St. Andrews, contained that although the right of presenting to the perpetual vicarage of Dunde in the diocese of Brechin has belonged to them from time immemorial, yet the late John bishop of Brechin, wrongfully claiming the same, on the vicarage becoming void by the death of Richard Erag (rectius Crag), rejected the presentation made by the abbot and convent within the lawful time, and made collation to Richard Wily, clerk, of the said diocese of Brechin, thereby despoiling the abbot and convent of their right of presentation. The pope therefore orders the above three to summon, the said bishop having recently died, the present bishop of Brechin and the said Richard and others concerned, and, restoring the abbot and convent, to hear both sides and decide what is just without appeal, causing their decision to be observed by the present bishop by the pope's authority, and by others by ecclesiastical censure. To the dean and the archdeacon of Ardagh and Eugenius Oradochain, a canon of the same. Mandate to summon the below-named bishop and others concerned, and to collate and assign to Peter Magaurughan, a canon of the Augustinian priory of St. Mary, Drumlean, in the diocese of Kilmore, the said priory, conventual and with cure of souls, dependent on the monastery of St. Mary without the walls of the town of Kenlys in the diocese of Meath, (fn. 5) value not exceeding 20 marks sterling, which became and is still void at the apostolic see and therefore ipso facto reserved, by the promotion, made by the present pope, of Thady bishop of Kilmore to that church, and by his consecration which was administered to him by the pope's grant at the said see; the said Peter stating that he is illegitimate, being the son of unmarried parents, that after he entered the said monastery and made his profession he had himself promoted to all even holy orders, that the said bishop has for about a year unduly detained the said priory in commendam under pretext of certain papal letters which are surreptitious because he falsely stated therein that the fruits etc. of his episcopal mensa were so slender that he could not be maintained therefrom, whereas in fact they were then, as at present, so abundant that he could and can be decently maintained, and that he cannot safely meet the said bishop in the city and diocese of Kilmore.
