1456[–7]. Non. Feb. (5 Feb.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 188.)	To the abbot of SS. Peter and Paul's, Cluameos (sic), in the diocese of Clogher, and Thomas Ocarbri and Thomas Oleargusa, canons of Clogher. Mandate to collate and assign to Nicholas Ohsiygi, clerk, of the diocese of Clogher, the perpetual vicarage of St. Mulua de Cluan in the said diocese, value not exceeding 5 marks sterling, void by the death without the Roman court of John Ohsiygi, although Charles Obrymg, clerk, of the said diocese, who is to be summoned and removed, has unlawfully detained it for about a year but less than two years. Nicholas is hereby dispensed, notwithstanding his illegitimacy as the son of a clerk and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all even holy orders and receive and retain the vicarage, and to resign it, simply or for exchange. 1456[–7]. 14 Kal. March. (16 Feb.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 208.)	To John [son] of Thomas de Geraldinis, perpetual vicar of the church of Ardfert. Dispensation to him (who is of a race of barons, and holds the said vicarage, which has the cure of souls of the parishioners of the said church, which has also a parish, and to whom provision was recently made of the precentorship of the said church, a non-major nonelective dignity with cure, value not exceeding 4 and 10 marks sterling respectively, the pope requiring him to resign the said vicarage as soon as he obtained the precentorship, in virtue of the letters to be drawn up in the matter of the said grant) to receive any other benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible with the said vicarage and precentorship, even if a dignity etc., and, after he resigns the said vicarage or precentorship, to retain such benefice for life together with that one of the two which he retains, and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, and hold instead two similar or dissimilar benefices, provided that he do not hold two parish churches or their perpetual vicarages. To the abbot of Holy Trinity, Lochque, in the diocese of Elphin, and Dermit Odubda and Thomas Omurehu (rectius Omurchu), canons of Killala (Aladen.). Mandate, as below. The recent petition of William Macscarri, a canon of the Augustinian monastery of St. Mary, Asdara, in the diocese of Achonry (Akaden.), contained that although Cornelius Macscarri, [now] a canon, then abbot thereof, was for his faults etc. deprived and removed by papal authority, and that although the sentence of deprivation and removal became a res judicata because he did not prosecute within the lawful time the appeal which he had made to the apostolic see, so that the appeal became abandoned, nevertheless when the said William, to whom provision had been made by the said authority of the monastery, then void by the said deprivation and removal, and who had been appointed thereto, wished to take possession of the administration, Cornelius, rebelliously opposing, stirred up a number of temporal lords, his friends, against William, and with their support procured the violent expulsion from their homes of William and his father, brothers and friends and the non-effect hitherto of the said provision; and that William was by intimidation compelled, (fn. 2) for the sake of the restoration to their homes of himself and his said father etc., to surrender before witnesses all right in or to the monastery, to swear not to molest Cornelius about it, and not to seek absolution from his oaths. The pope therefore orders the above three, seeing that from fear of Cornelius's power William cannot safely meet him in the city and diocese of Achonry, to summon Cornelius and others concerned, and if they find the said deprivation, abandonment, provision etc. to be true, to declare the said surrender and oaths null and void, relax the oaths and restore William and the said provision etc. to the state in which they were before the said resignation and oaths, inducting William as true abbot, removing Cornelius, and causing William to be obeyed by the convent etc., proceeding by ecclesiastical censure etc. Justis et honestis.
