Footnotes

  • 1. On the back of the volume is the usual modern description in Italian: ‘Pio ii. 1558 (corrected in pencil to 1458). Anno i. Lib. i. On a flyleaf in an 18th century hand is: ‘Pii Pape 2. Hic liber est primus de prebendis et dignitatibus vacaturis anni primi Pii pape secundi et est adnotatus in Rubricis sub no. 117, sed ut dictum est, est de Vacaturis. Ideo etc.’ The volume was evidently wrongly described in the catalogue referred to, being probably described there as ‘Vacantibus,’ hence the insistence which the writer has made on the words which he has underlined, and the warning ‘Ideo etc.' that the entry in the catalogue ought to be corrected. Above this, on the same flyleaf is Mgr. Wenzel's usual ‘An. i. to. i.’ On the bottom edge of the volume is the usual contemporary description: ‘Primus de prebendis et dignitatibus vacantibus anno primo domini nostri domini Pii pape secundi.’ There are i-cccviii. ff. of text, and on the back of the last leaf is ‘Rubricatus est per me Petrum Rubeum.’
