To the abbot of St. John the Evangelist's, Tuam, and Thomas Oruayn and John Orueladi, canons of Tuam. Mandate as below. Nicholas V (upon being informed by Odo Oheugayn, (fn. 2) priest, of the diocese of Tuam, that Donatus O[k]innhaclup (sic), (fn. 3) perpetual vicar of the parish church of Kyllerdun in the diocese of Annaghdown, an open and notorious fornicator, had openly kept a concubine (fn. 4) in his own house, neglected the cure of souls of the parishioners, and dilapidated etc. the goods of the vicarage, to the shame of the priestly order) ordered the prior of St. Mary's, Inchcleraun (de Insula Miclocheahyn, recte In[is]clochrahyn), in the diocese of Ardagh, inasmuch as from fear of Donatus's power Odo had no hope of obtaining justice in the city and diocese of Annaghdown, if and after Odo accused Donatus before the said prior, to summon Donatus and others concerned, and if he found the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove Donatus, and in that event to collate and assign the vicarage, value not exceeding 3 marks sterling [Cal. Papal Lett. X, p. 707]. The recent petition of the said Odo contained that although he duly presented the said letters to the said prior, and requested him to proceed to their execution, nevertheless on account of the tyrannical power of Rory (Rurici) Yflahfertych, layman, of the said diocese of Annaghdown, who inordinately favoured Donatus, the said execution could not be made nor can now be made by the said prior. The pope therefore, seeing that even still the said Odo, from fear of the power of Donatus, has no hope of obtaining justice in the city and diocese of Annaghdown, orders the above three to summon Donatus and others concerned, and if they find the foregoing statement to be true, to proceed to the execution of the said letters, as if they had been directed and at the due time presented to them, and as if they had begun to execute them. Rehabilitation, at his recent petition, containing that he formerly obtained, by collation made to him by papal authority, the parish church of Callan in the diocese of Ossory, on its voidance by the death of John [Sandere], (fn. 5) and held possession for more than a year without having himself ordained priest, and without dispensation, and that, since the lapse of the said year he, without having acquired any new title, has detained it for about four years, and still detains it. To the vicar-general in spirituals of the bishop of Aberdeen. Mandate, at the recent petition of Robert Vaus' of Barnchbarach, layman, of the diocese of Whiteherne (Candide case) (containing that formerly Thomas bishop of Whiteherne, with the consent of the chapter of Whiteherne, gave, granted and assigned on lease, for him and his two heirs, for the life of them and the said Robert, under a certain yearly cess to be paid to bishop Thomas and his successors, certain lands or pieces of lands and certain possessions, namely, of Balzequhyz (i.e. Balzequhyr), Respin, le Crag, Apilby, Balliechra, Baltherchen and Bisscopttoyne, situate in the baronies of Auhitherne (recte Quithirne, i.e. Whithirne), Pomgame (recte Penigame) and luthicuste (recte Kirkcriste) within the sheriffdom of Wigtoune and stewartry of Kirkeubricht, (fn. 7) and belonging to the episcopal mensa of Whiteherne) if he find the said donation etc. to be to the evident utility of the said mensa, to approve and confirm them, and their consequences, by papal authority.
