St. Mark's, Rome.
(f. 311.)
To the priors of St. Hyeranus's [sic], Syyr, and St. Tierney's (Tyernasii) alias St. Mary's, Achmacart, in the diocese of Ossory, and the official of Ossory. Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by Donatus Omalchayl, clerk, of the diocese of Ossory, that on the parish church of St. Fintanus de Durmach (fn. 2) in the said diocese becoming void by the death of John Machem, Patrick Obechan, clerk, of the said diocese, made an agreement with William Machillpadric, clerk, of the same diocese, that if the latter would be the means of Patrick's obtaining collation of the said church, the latter would share the fruits etc. with him, thereby committing simony and incurring the sentences etc., promulgated therefor; and that David, bishop of Ossory, in ignorance of the said agreement, made provision of the said church by his ordinary authority to the said Patrick, who under pretext thereof obtained and still detains possession. The pope therefore hereby orders the above priors and official, if the said Donatus will accuse the said Patrick before them, to summon Patrick and others concerned, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to declare the said collation and provision null, and remove Patrick, and in that event to collate and assign the said church, value not exceeding 12 marks sterling, to Donatus; whether it be void as above, or by the resignation of the said Patrick or of Donatus Mychem, clerk, of the said diocese, or in any other way.
