1468. Non. Nov. (5 Nov.) St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 64d.)	To the abbot of Holyrood near Edinburgh, in the diocese of St. Andrews. Mandate, as below. The recent petition of Robert Ker, a monk of the monastery of St. Mary's, Kelsow, O.S.B., in the diocese of St. Andrews, contained that Richard Roberti, [now] abbot, then a monk of the said monastery, was, on its voidance by the death of Alan, unanimously elected abbot by the convent, which election is, in virtue of immemorially observed privileges of the apostolic see, held to be ipso facto confirmed; that in virtue of the said election and privileges the said Richard obtained possession of the rule and administration; that, upon his doubting whether the said election held good, the present pope granted him provision; and that, inasmuch as he has resigned to the said convent the rule and administration and the said grant, and inasmuch as the convent has, in accordance with ancient custom, admitted the said resignation, the convent has unanimously elected the said Robert, who has consented thereto, and has, in virtue of the said election and of the said privileges, obtained possession of the rule and administration. The said petition adding that the said Robert doubts whether the said election holds good, and the said monastery being, as the pope has learned, still void as above, he hereby orders the above abbot of Holyrood, if he find fit the said Robert, who alleges that he is by both parents of noble and baronial birth, to make provision to him of the said monastery, value not exceeding 80l. sterling. The pope hereby grants that he may be blessed by any catholic bishop in communion with the apostolic see, who shall thereafter receive from him the usual oath of fealty according to the form enclosed, and send it to the pope by his own envoy without delay, by his letters patent sealed with his seal, etc. Suscepti cura regiminis.
