To Master John Fraunceys, bachelor of canon law, papal writer and member of the pope's household. Collation and provision to him—who is also an abbreviator of apostolic letters, and whom the pope lately dispensed to hold for life two benefices with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if elective dignities, major in cathedral or metropolitan or principal in collegiate churches, personatus, administrations or offices, or parish churches, and to resign them simply or for exchange as often as he pleased and hold instead two similar or dissimilar incompatible benefices—of a canonry in Lincoln and another in Salisbury, with reservation of a prebend in each, and of a dignity, personatas or office [with or without cure] in one of them, even if such dignity have cure and be major and elective; notwithstanding that he holds the churches of Saltewode and Kirkeby in Clyfland, and the free chapel without cure of St. Laurence, Spertegrove, in the dioceses of Canterbury, York and Wells, and a canonry and prebend of Wells; that the pope has this day granted him provision of a canonry with expectation of a prebend and of a dignity, personatus or office, with or without cure, of Lincoln and London, which grant is hereby annulled; and that in the apostolic palace he has had a cause committed and citation decreed by edict in [those] parts about the canonries and prebends of Masham in York and Chermynstre and Bere in Salisbury. Upon obtaining, under the present letters, a dignity, personatus or office with cure (curatum) of Lincoln or Salisbury, he is, as he has offered, to resign whichever he prefers of the said two churches, as also the said canonries and prebends in litigation. Further, he shall be unable, after three years from the date of these presents, and by virtue thereof, to accept or cause provision to be made to him of a prebend or dignity or personatus or office; and if meanwhile he do not so accept or have provision of such prebend etc. he shall thereafter desist from being a canon of Lincoln and Salisbury. To Master John Fraunceys etc. as above. Collation and provision to him, who is also an abbreviator of papal letters, at the petition also of Francis, cardinal priest of St. Susanna's, a member of whose household he is, of a canonry in York and another in St. Mary's Southwell with reservation of a prebend in each and of a dignity, personatus or office, with or without cure, in one of them, provided that such dignity be not major nor principal respectively; notwithstanding that the pope has lately dispensed him, as above; that he holds the above two churches, free chapel and canonry and prebend of Wells; and that the pope has lately [above] granted him provision of canonries with expectation of prebends of Lincoln and Salisbury, and of a dignity, personatns or office, with or without cure, even if such dignity [had cure and] were major in one of those churches, and elective. Upon obtaining, under the present letters, a dignity, personatus or office with cure (curatum) of York or St. Mary's, he is, as he has offered, to resign whichever he prefers of the said two churches, and the above grant shall be null and void as far only as regards a dignity, personatus or office with cure (curatum). Further, he shall be unable, after four years from the date of these presents, and by virtue of them, to accept or cause provision to be made to him of a prebend or dignity, personatus or office; and if meanwhile he do not so accept or have provision of a prebend, he shall thereafter desist from being a canon of York and St. Mary's.
