De Prebendis Vacaturis.



1404. 2 Non. Aug. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 5.)	To John Lorchan. Provision of a canonry of Limerick with reservation of a prebend, and of a benefice with or without cure, value not exceeding 25 marks or 18 accordingly, in the common or several gift of the bishop and chapter of Cork, provided that such benefice be not a canonry and prebend in a cathedral church. After five years he shall be unable to accept a prebend or benefice by virtue of these presents, and if meanwhile he do not accept a prebend he shall cease to be a canon of Limerick. Vite ac morum.
	Concurrent mandate to the bishops of Cloyne (Colnen.) and Morocco (?) (Morachien.) and the dean of Cork. Vite etc.
13 Kal. May. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 11.)	To Master John Fraunceys, canon of Lincoln, bachelor of canon law, papal writer and member of the pope's household. Provision to him, who is also an abbreviator of apostolic letters, of a canonry in St. Mary's Southwell and another in St. John's Beverley, with reservation of a prebend in each; notwithstanding that the pope has lately dispensed him to hold for life two benefices with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if elective dignities, major in cathedral or metropolitan or principal in collegiate churches, personatus, administrations or offices or parish churches, and to resign them simply or for exchange as often as he pleased and hold instead two similar or dissimilar incompatible benefices; or that he holds the parish churches of Saltewode and Kirkeby in Clyfland and the free chapel without cure of Spertegrove in the dioceses of Canterbury, York and Wells, and a canonry and prebend of Wells; and that the pope has lately granted him provision of canonries of Lincoln and Salisbury with expectations of prebends [and] of a dignity, personatus or office, with or without cure, in one of them, and of canonries of York and St. Mary's Southwell, also with expectations of prebends [and] of a dignity, personatus or office in one of them. Upon obtaining under these presents possession of a canonry and prebend of St. Mary's Southwell, the said grant of a canonry with expectation of a prebend, that only, namely, which was made to him in St. Mary's Southwell, shall be null and void. After five years he shall be unable to accept a prebend by virtue of these presents, and if meanwhile he do not accept such prebend, he shall cease to be a canon of St. Mary's and St. John's. 2 Id. Sept. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 13d.)	To Philip Mackeogayn. Provision to him—who has had papal dispensation as the son of a married man and a married woman to be promoted to all, even holy orders, and hold a benefice even with cure—of a canonry of Armagh, with reservation of a prebend, and of a benefice with or without cure, value as above, f. 5, in the common or several gift of the archbishop and the dean and chapter and each of the canons and persone of Armagh, provided etc. as ibid. He is hereby dispensed to hold such canonry and prebend and any mutually compatible benefices with or without cure, of any number and kind, even if elective dignities, major in metropolitan or cathedral, or principal in collegiate churches, personatus or offices, with or without cure, and to resign them for exchange or simply as often as he pleases, and hold instead similar or dissimilar benefices. His illegitimacy need not be mentioned in future graces. After five years, etc. as ibid., mutatis mutandis. Vite etc.

11 Kal. Sept. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 28.)	To Philip Macgerbuartaidh. Provision of a canonry of Raphoe with reservation of a prebend, and of a benefice, etc. as in the preceding, with Raphoe for Armagh, and with the five years clause. Vite etc.
	Concurrent mandate to the bishop of Tuy, the prior of Lochngeorg in the diocese of Clogher, and the archdeacon of Raphoe. Vite etc. [Here Magerbuartardh.]
1404. 6 Kal. Aug. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 32.)	To the abbot of St. Peter's, Westminster, without the walls, London. Mandate to make provision to William Glym, rector of Dodyngton in the diocese of Ely, if found fit, of a canonry of Salisbury, and to reserve to him, according to his fitness in Latin, a prebend and elective dignity, not major, personatus or office, with or without cure, or a prebend and office without cure only; notwithstanding if the pope have this day granted on behalf of other or others letters of equal grace or graces in Salisbury; that he holds the above church; and that he has lately had papal dispensation to hold therewith for life one other benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if a perpetual vicarage or a parish church or an elective dignity with cure, major or principal and unique respectively, personatus or perpetual administration or office in a metropolitan, cathedral or collegiate church.
