Acquittance for a number of sums paid by him at different times, among them being fourteen ducats for two couriers sent by the pope to England and Almain. Cum de mandato. Power, valid during the Schism only, to hear, in the realm of England and the lordship of Ireland, confessions of any faithful who are without their own catholic bishop and priest, to grant them absolution as often as necessary, even in cases reserved to the bishop, enjoin a salutary penance, and minister to them any ecclesiastical sacraments. 1414. 10 Kal. Sept. Rimini. (f. 147d.)	To Francis, [bishop] elect of Modoni (or Methone, Mothonen.), papal treasurer. Mandate to him, who is also registrar of papal letters, to register and cause to be registered, at the petition of Master William Swan, papal secretary and member of the pope's household, eighteen letters which, at the pope's order and at the request of the said William, have been expedited by the chancery, and taxed according to the custom of the same, the taxes for the bulla and registration of which letters amount in all to 117 gold ducats and 1 grosso; and to hand over, restore and assign the said letters, thus registered, to the said William, without any payment. The pope's will is that the said taxes, alike those for the bulla—the taxes for which ought by the pope's order to pass into the hands of the treasurer—and those for the register, shall not be reckoned in the above treasurer's accounts, and that, to safeguard him, he shall make express mention in his books of the taxes which the pope has thus granted.
