1413. 4 Non. May. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 8.)	To the bishop of Volterra, the prior of St. Mary's, Glasarge, in the diocese of Ferns, and the archdeacon of Leighlin. Mandate to collate and assign to Thomas Onuallan, priest, of the diocese of Leighlin, the perpetual vicarage, value not exceeding 12 marks, of Magdacond in the diocese of Ferns, void because Odo Ofergail held it for more than a year without having himself ordained priest and without dispensation. 1413. 5 Kal. Jan. Lodi (Lauda). (f. 14.)	To the bishop of Aosta, the archdeacon of Annadown, and Dermit Macgirrenastayr, canon of Kilfenora. Mandate to collate and assign to Odo Ohallbaran, clerk, of the diocese of Tuam, who is, he says, of noble race and has studied canon law for three years, the perpetual vicarage, value not exceeding 3 marks, of Rofflannan (sic), in the said diocese, void by the death of Maurice Magormail; notwithstanding that the pope has recently [above, p. 426] ordered provision to be made to him of the rectory of Magailind alias Gnobeg in the diocese of Annadown, value not exceeding 5 marks. He is hereby dispensed to hold them together for life. Nobilitas generis, vite etc. (x. residuum pro deo.)
1414. 7 Id. March. Bologna. (f. 17.)	To the bishops of Bangor and Kilmacduagh and the dean of Clonfert. Mandate to collate and assign to Philip Macnamyn, priest, of the diocese of Clonfert, who lately had papal dispensation, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, the perpetual benefice with cure, called the rectory, value not exceeding 2 marks, of Madgonnurlach in the said diocese, which is not situate in any church, but whose holder has been wont to receive certain fruits and emoluments within the bounds of divers parishes, and which is of the patronage of laymen, so long void (because the late Denis Mocadagain, when holding it, obtained and without dispensation held for more than a year therewith the perpetual vicarage of Fachicomla in the same diocese) that its collation has by the Lateran statutes lapsed to the apostolic see. 8 Kal. April. Bologna. (f. 25d.)	To the bishop of Volterra and the dean and John Ochassalayd, canon, of Derry. Mandate to collate and assign to Patrick Oflandura, clerk, of the diocese of Derry, who is in his twentythird year, the rectory, value not exceeding 6 marks, of Achadufaid in the said diocese, void because Donald Okartean, when holding it, obtained and without dispensation held therewith for more than a month the perpetual vicarage of Bendcor in the same diocese. He is hereby dispensed on account of his defect of age. Vite etc.
16 Kal. June. Bologna. (f. 32.)	To the bishops of Volterra and Derry and Donatus Ocearballan, canon of Derry. Mandate to collate and assign to Maurice Macblosgaid, clerk, of the diocese of Derry—who has studied canon law for about four years in places where there is not an university (in locis particularibus) of those parts, and who lately had papal dispensation, as the son of a priest and an unmarried or a married woman (soluta sive conjugata), to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure—the rectory, of the patronage of laymen and value not exceeding 15 marks, of St. Mary's, Balimbonaid in the diocese of Connor, so long void by the death of Donatus Maiglenn, that its collation has by the Lateran statutes lapsed to the apostolic see; notwithstanding that the pope has lately ordered provision to be made to him of the perpetual vicarage, value not exceeding 8 marks, of Tamlacharda alias de Ardo in the diocese of Derry. He is hereby dispensed to hold both for life.Vite etc.

Mandate to collate and assign to William de Burgo, scholar, of the diocese of Tuam, after he has received the tonsure, the rectory, value not exceeding 6 marks, of Burgeysuwayll in the said diocese, so long void because William de Angulo held it for more than a year without having himself ordained priest and without dispensation, that its collation has by the Lateran statutes lapsed to the apostolic see. 1414. 16 Kal. June. Bologna. (f. 52.)	To the bishop of Bangor, the abbot of St. Patrick's, Newry (de Viridiligno), in the diocese of Dromore, and the archdeacon of Armagh. Mandate to collate and assign to Comedinus Oferchian, clerk, of the diocese of Armagh—who lately had papal dispensation, as the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure—the perpetual vicarage, value not exceeding 4 marks, of Drumchrichid in the said diocese, void by the death of David Macralagen; notwithstanding that the pope has recently ordered provision to be made to him [below, f. 63] of the perpetual vicarage, value not exceeding 5 marks, of Tamplaccliad in the same diocese. Collation and provision to him— who lately had papal dispensation, as the son of a subdeacon and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure—the perpetual portion, without cure and value not exceeding half a mark, in the church of Kilfenora, which became void and reserved to the apostolic see by the death there of Donald Macgirrenagastit; notwithstanding that the pope has lately ordered provision to be made to him of the perpetual vicarage, value not exceeding 3 marks, of Nova in the diocese of Kilfenora. He is hereby dispensed to hold the said portion. Vite etc.

Mandate to remove Donald Ofrachna, priest, of the diocese of Elphin, who unduly detains possession, and to collate and assign to Mathew Ofrachna, priest, of the same diocese—who lately had papal dispensation, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure— the perpetual vicarage, value not exceeding 3 marks, of Odealb in the said diocese, void because the late Lewis Oflannagain held it for more than a year without having himself ordained priest and without dispensation. Mandate to collate and assign to Eugenius Okairtean, clerk, of the diocese of Derry— who lately had papal dispensation, as the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, to be promoted, etc. as usual— the rectory, value not exceeding 4 marks, of Airegal in the said diocese, void by the death of Odo Othomaltayd; notwithstanding that the pope has lately [pp. 423, 424] ordered provision to be made to him of the perpetual vicarage, value not exceeding 5 marks, of Achadufaid in the said diocese. Collation and provision, motu proprio, of the canonry and prebend of Netherhaven in Salisbury, which became and are still void and reserved to the pope, under his late reservation of all void benefices of papal chaplains, by the death without the Roman court of Nicholas Risshton, papal chaplain and auditor, and of which Calton, as one ignorant of the law, obtained possession under royal presentation and under institution by the ordinary, still detaining them, the said reservation notwithstanding. Vite etc.
	Concurrent mandate to the archbishop of Canterbury, [and] the bishops of Volterra and St. Davids. Vite etc.

1413. 4 Kal. July. St. Anthony's etc. (f. 245.)	To Thomas Carnyka, rector of Setryngton in the diocese of York. Reservation, motu proprio, of the deanery of Wells, a major elective dignity with cure, held at the time of his promotion, made by the pope, and still held, by Richard, elect of Norwich, and about to become void by his said promotion and by his approaching consecration; notwithstanding that Thomas holds, by papal dispensation, the said parish church of Setryngton and that of St. Nicholas, Skyrbek, in the diocese of Lincoln, together with which he is hereby dispensed to hold the deanery for life, and to resign the three as often as he pleases, simply or for exchange, and hold instead three similar or dissimilar mutually incompatible benefices. Vite etc.

5 Id. Aug. St. Anthony's etc. (f. 252.)	To the archdeacon of Ossory. Mandate to collate and assign to Walter Stontoun, precentor (cantoris) of Ossory, the deanery of Ossory, a major dignity with cure, value not exceeding 40 marks, still void by the resignation of William Loullintoun to bishop Thomas, although the chapter, to whom by ancient custom the election belongs, elected, perhaps in ignorance of the pope's late reservation of all major dignites in cathedral churches, void and to be void [Ottenthal, Reg. Canc. Apost., John XXIII, No. 3], the said Walter, whom the said bishop, also in ignorance, confirmed, by virtue of which election and confirmation Walter obtained the deanery. The collation is to be made, whether the deanery became void as above or by the death of Nicholas Broun or otherwise, and notwithstanding that Walter holds the precentorship, which is likewise a dignity and which, upon obtaining the deanery, he is to resign.Dignum [arbitramur]. 10 Kal. Nov. St. Anthony's etc. (f. 294.)	To Thomas Otharpa. Provision to him, who is in priest's orders, of the Augustinian abbey of St. Michael, Mayo, in the diocese of Tuam, of which he is a canon, value not exceeding 8 marks, with which the abbot and six canons are with difficulty sustained, void by the death of Malachy, during whose lifetime it was reserved by the pope; whether it be void as above, or by the resignation of the said Malachy to the late archbishop Maurice. He is hereby dispensed, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to hold it. Inter solicitudines.

1414. 2 Id. March. Bologna. (f. 295.)	To Berengarius de Arpajone. Provision to him, who is provost of Belmont (ecclesie Bellimontis) in the diocese of Vabres, of the see of Périgueux, void by the recent translation of bishop Ramundus [de Bretenoux] to Lombez (Lumbarien.).Apostolatus officium.
	Concurrent letters to the chapter, to the clergy and to the people of the city and diocese, and to the vassals of the church —Apostolatus etc.; to the archbishop of Bordeaux — Ad cumulum; and to Charles, king of the French—Gracie divine. (De mandato.) [Cf. above, Cal. Papal Lett. V. 454, where the letter in the like circumstance is addressed to Henry, king of England].
1414. 8 Kal. April. Bologna. (f. 305.)	To Cormac [Macdavid, as twice mentioned in the text of the letter.] Provision of the Cistercian abbey of Boyle (de Buellio) in the diocese of Elphin, the net value of whose abbatial mensa does not exceed 10 marks, which abbey was reserved to the pope during the abbotship of Eugenius Macdonchaid, formerly monk thereof, and to which afterwards—on its becoming void by the deprivation for his demerits of Eugenius by Henry, abbot of Mellifont in the diocese of Armagh, acting by authority of Matthew, abbot of Clairvaux, the father-abbot of Boyle—the said Henry appointed Cormac to be abbot, being a monk of Boyle and in priest's orders, and the son of an abbot of the Cistercian order and an unmarried woman, and having already canonical dispensation to hold all dignities of his order on account of his being the son of a priest religious and an unmarried woman, no mention therein being made, however, of the abbatial dignity. The pope confirms the said deprivation and appointment, makes provision to Cormac, and dispenses him on account of his said illegitimacy. Inter solicitudines.
