To the chancellor, archdeacon and official of Moray. Mandate to summon Andrew Symonis, a Cistercian monk (who, as is alleged by William de Brenech, a monk of the priory of Pluskardin, of the order of Val-des-Choux, in the diocese of Moray, has without any canonical title unduly detained the said priory for about seven years under pretext of papal letters in which its true value is not expressed), and to collate and assign to the said William the said priory, dependent on the monastery of Val-des-Choux in the diocese of Langres, value not exceeding 50l. sterling, which became and is still void by the death of prior Thomas de Pluskardin, and, being conventual, was and is reserved in virtue of the pope's late reservation of all conventual priories. To the archpriest of the church of St. Vitalis de Pomario in the diocese of Piacenza. Mandate to collate and assign to Benedict Guillermi, a Benedictine monk of St. Columbanus's, Bobbio, the Benedictine priory of St. Martin in the diocese of Bobbio, without cure, dependent on the said monastery and wont to be governed by monks thereof, value not exceeding 20 florins of gold of the camera, void at the apostolic see by the recent resignation of William de Anglia made by proxy to the pope, and therefore ipso facto reserved; whether it be so void, or by the death of Michael de Matalonibus, or in any other way.Dignum etc. (An. and P. de Casatiis. | An. xx. Faculty, with a view to the greater tranquillity of the convent or chapter, and to preclude all occasion for wandering, for the prior of the Benedictine monastery or church of Ely, and his successors, after hearing the confessions of all the religious, in whatsoever orders they be, and also of the lay brothers, to absolve them, as often as opportune, from all excesses and sins, even in cases specially reserved to the ordinary, enjoining a salutary penance; and moreover to dispense the said religious, once only, on account of irregularity contracted by celebrating divine offices or assisting thereat [when excommunicate], and to rehabilitate them. Lib. 77.’ A flyleaf has, in different contemporary hands, ‘Primus de Regularibus et de diuersis formis Anno vito . domini nostri Eugenii pape iiiiti .’ (a similar description occurs also on the bottom edge of the volume), ‘N. Ricii litterarum apostolicarum scriptor,’ ‘Jo. Benenati,’ ‘Aprutin.’ ‘Rubricatus’ etc. Another flyleaf has the usual modern ‘Vidi pro R.C.A. Hib. Ang.’ ‘Liber lxxvii foliorum 315,’ etc. The dorso of the last folio in the Register, viz. f. 315, has the word ‘Rubricatus’ twice in a contemporary hand.
