To Henry Percy, earl of Northumberland. Indult that the dean of his chapel, present and future, may, within the earl's principal chapel only, on days and at hours at which masses and other divine offices are celebrated therein, or solemn processions made in the earl's court, wear almuces of vair and grey (de variis grisiis), like secular canons of those parts. Indult that the dean of his chapel, present and future, may hear, by himself or others, the confessions of all the members of the earl's household, lay and cleric, and absolve them, being contrite, from all their sins etc., even in cases reserved to bishops only, etc. Exigit tue devotionis sinceritas. To John Bolt, rector of Paynyston in the diocese of Meath. Dispensation to hold for life with the said church, value not exceeding 40 marks sterling, any other benefice with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if another parish church etc., and to resign them, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, notwithstanding the pope's late ordinance to the contrary [see above, p. 247] etc. Vite etc. (B. and Ja. de Ugolinis. | B. xxx. To William de Elfynston, canon of Glasgow, M.A. Grant to him (to whom on 8 Kal. May anno 1 [1431] the pope, by letters which stated that he was a B.C.L., made provision, motu proprio, of a canonry of Glasgow with reservation of a prebend and a dignity etc. thereof, and of a benefice with or without cure, even if a canonry and prebend etc., in the gift of the bishop and the prior and chapter etc. of St. Andrews; and who holds the perpetual vicarage of Askirk in the diocese of Glasgow, value not exceeding 16l. sterling) that the said letters and their consequences shall hold good from the date thereof, notwithstanding that at the date of the said letters he was not a B.C.L., although he was so at the time of their expedition.
