Henry Guy to the Agents for Taxes for an account what money remains due from the respective Receivers of Taxes except the last [the second or present] Twelve Months' Aid. Out Letters (General) XIII, p. 215.
Same to the Navy Commissioners. My Lords have considered your letters of the 5th inst. They direct that you reserve the tallies and orders for 20,000l. on the two thirds of the Additional Excise which were intended by my Lords for Mr. Barrett or such other [Navy] services for the year 1691 as they should appoint ; and that you proceed in your assignments of the bills of that year in course out of the residue of the tallies on the said fund in the hands of the Treasurer of the Navy according to my Lords' late direction in that behalf.
They are further pleased to allow to Mr. Barrett 10,000l., as his payments become due, out of the first of those reserved tallies and also to allow him 8 per cent., besides the interest already grown due upon them, as his Majesty's gratuity to enable him to issue money upon those tallies and orders for the speedy despatch of the ships he is in hand withal. You are to sign a [Navy] bill payable to the Treasurer of the Navy or to the said Mr. Barrett for so much as the said interest shall amount to, for the said Treasurer's discharge in his account. Treasury reference to Mr. Charles Fox of the petition of Samuell Rawlines, shewing that he served in Ireland in the Duke of Leinster's Regiment and lost his horse in the service ; therefore praying his arrears or three months' pay, as the rest of the discharged men have had, and consideration for his horse. Treasury reference to the Excise Commissioners of the proposal of Foot Onslow, esq., to give 20,000l. per an. for the Duties upon low wines. Reference Book VI, p. 379b.
Treasury warrant to the Clerk of the Pipe for a lease to Robert Waller, esq., of their Majesties' Manor House at York, ut supra, p. 1502, parcel of the late Monastery of St. Mary, situate in the suburbs of the city of York, and surrendered to Henry VIII 1539, Nov. 29, by William Dent, then abbot : the present lease to be for 31 years at the rent of 10s. per an., with covenants, ut supra ibid., as to the discharge of the fee of 20 nobles per an. and the reservation of rooms for the keeping of the Courts and Leets belonging to their Majesties' said manor.

Mar. 8. Henry Guy to Sir Robert Howard [as Auditor of the Receipt]. The Earl of Macclesfield informs my Lords that by patent of 1661, Dec. 20, Charles II granted to him [as then Charles, Lord Gerard] an annuity of 1,000l. for life as one of the Gentlemen of the Bedchamber ; and by patent of 1674, Dec. 23, another annuity of 1,000l. to him for life. Please send my Lords an account of these annuities. Out Letters (General) XIII, p. 216.
Same to the Navy Commissioners. After consideration of your letter of the 5th inst., my Lords direct that out of the tallies and orders for 20,000l. on the two thirds of the Additional Excise, which were intended by my Lords for Mr. Barret, you assign to him 10,000l. with the interest thereon ; and that you reserve for him the remaining 10,000l. with the interest thereon. Ibid.
Same to Mr. Stephens [Cashier to the Treasurer of the Navy], enclosing the above letter as to the assignments to be made to Barret. "As to the money which Mr. Barret is to receive by way of gratuity," I have the Treasury Lords' commands, which I will communicate to you as soon as I can see you. Ibid.
Same to Sir Christopher Wren. Mr. Wardour, the Clerk of the Pells, has represented to my Lords that by the multitude of business increased in his Office he has not room enough to despatch it, and desires that the Star Chamber or some other place near his Office may be fitted up for that purpose. Henry Guy to Mr. [Auditor] Aldworth to enquire of the true value of Visct. Preston's estate forfeited to the Crown ; and what rent same was charged at by the inquisitions lately taken in Yorkshire, Cumberland and elsewhere ; and how much has been collected by the particular Receivers appointed by the Treasury Lords, their payments thereout and to whom and what remains in the said Receivers' hands or is this day owing from the estate [to the Crown]. Treasury reference to Mr. [Charles] Fox of the petition of Robert Ayleway, Comptroller of the Train of Artillery in Ireland, shewing that there is due to him as Commissary and Comptroller of said Train 618l. for pay to 1691, April 1 ; and 315l. 8s. 0d. for the period 1691, April 1, to 1691-2, Feb. 26 ; and 189l. 12s. 5d. for 11 ton 3 cwt. 25 lb. of iron and a cart which was employed in the King's service ; and 65l. for 200 weight of broken brass culvering that was taken from the enemy ; making in all 1,188l. 0s. 5d., of which he has received 150l. 4s. 0d. ; therefore praying payment of the remainder. Mar. 8. Same to the Comptroller of the [Accounts of] the Treasurer of the Chamber of the petition of William Forrester, praying that a debt of 493l. 14s. 0d. due to him from Sir Rowland Gwyn [Treasurer of the Chamber] may be paid out of the fees of his [Gwyn's] Office. Ibid.

Money order for 24l. 15s. 10½d. to Thomas Lloyd, Paymaster of the Works, as imprest : to be paid to the following servants in the Privy Garden of Charles II at the time of his decease, viz. 6l. 18s. 0d. to Step. Tagg in further part of wages due to him at Michaelmas, 1684, and 18l. 14s. 4½d. to the executors of Jo[h]n Vanson to complete his wages to same date : as by the royal sign manual of the 13th Feb. last. [? Mar. 10.] The Treasury Lords to the [Assessment] Commissioners for co. Lincoln for the second Twelve Months' Aid. Your Receiver General has represented to us that by reason of some difference between you in relation to the proportion payable by the parts of Lindsey, "which is half your county," he is likely to meet with great obstructions in his receipt, several warrants contradictory to each other having been issued. We earnestly recommend that either by appointing another General Meeting or in some other way agreeable to the Act of Parliament you will settle the matter in difference, so that the moneys may be speedily assessed.
