To Nicholas Ochonyll, James Ohaelan, and Malachy Odulana, canons of Kildare (Daren.). Mandate to collate and assign to William Macchostalwa alias Nogyl, clerk, of the diocese of Kildare, the perpetual vicarage of Lega in the said diocese, of lay patronage and value 8 marks sterling, to become void upon Thomas Machcostalwa obtaining possession of the abbey of St. Mary the Virgin, Rossglass alias de Rossavalle, O. Cist., in the said diocese, provision of which, then about to become void, the present pope lately ordered to be made to the said Thomas; and also the rectory of Kyllirachayn in the said diocese, likewise of lay patronage and value 8 marks sterling, so long void that its collation has lapsed to the apostolic see, although Eugenius Okeythan, priest, who is to be summoned and removed, has detained possession of it for between two and three years, without any title. To the abbot of St. Mary's, Kyreleyson and the prior of St. Mary's, Vimyffahond (?), (fn. 1) in the diocese of Ardfert, and Dermit Otuome, a canon of Ardfert. Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by James Trealu(n)t (?), clerk, of the diocese of Ardfert, that a suit arose lately about the perpetual vicarage of Dumhurlynd [sic], in the said diocese, between Maurice Oconocur alias Osaurygand (?), perpetual vicar of the said church (who, being ignorant of letters and a notorious fornicator, had rendered himself unworthy thereof), and Thomas Offynd, priest, of the said diocese, to whom provision thereof had been ordered to be made by papal authority in the event of the deprivation of the said Maurice; that, in order to avoid sentence of deprivation, Maurice agreed that if Thomas would give up the suit and all his right, and would leave him in peaceable possession, he would pay him 8 marks sterling in ready money, which he did upon Thomas's giving up, etc., thereby incurring simony and excommunication, etc. The pope has also learned that the perpetual vicarage of Ryndare in the said diocese is void because Nimeas Onyellygayn, after obtaining it by canonical collation, held it for more than a year without being ordained priest and without dispensation, although Thomas Ogryfyn, priest, has detained possession for more than three years, without any title. The pope, therefore, hereby orders the above three, if the said James will accuse Maurice before them, to summon him and Thomas Ogryfin, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove Maurice from the said vicarage of Dunthurlynd [sic], and in that event to collate and assign it (fn. 2) to James, and also to collate and assign to him the said vicarage of Ryndarc, if they find it void, as above, the value of each 6 marks sterling, removing the said Thomas Ogryfin, as well as the said Maurice; notwithstanding that the pope lately granted to James (who was recently dispensed by papal authority to receive and hold for life any two benefices with cure or otherwise incompatible, and to exchange them etc.) provision of a canonry and prebend of Ardfert, value 8 marks sterling. To John Olasci, Cornelius Olasci, and Cornelius Omiechan, canons of Raphoe. Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by Niellanus Oquerualan, clerk, of the diocese of Derry (Deren.), that on the voidance of the rectory of Kuilandavochdog in the diocese of Raphoe by the resignation of John Ygalleabayr to the late Laurence, bishop of Raphoe, Eamon (Emandus) (fn. 3) Macgilabrid, priest, of the diocese of Raphoe, agreed with the said bishop that if the bishop made him collation and provision thereof he would pay him a certain sum of money, thereby incurring simony and excommunication, etc.; that the said bishop made the collation and provision, and that Eamon paid him the money. The pope therefore, hereby orders the above three, if Niellanus will accuse Eamon before them. to summon him, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to decree that the said collation and provision were null and void, and remove Eamon, and in that event to collate and assign the said rectory, value 12 marks sterling, to Niellanus.
