To the archdeacon of Dromore, and Patrick Magynn and Marcus Magynn, canons of the same. Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by Eugenius Onustead, clerk, of the diocese of Dromore, that Eugenius Oruanada, a canon of Dromore, has committed simony, is a public fornicator, and has dilapidated and alienated immoveable and also precious moveable goods of his canonry of Dromore and prebend of St. Colman's de Clondallayn, and is utterly illiterate and useless to the said church. (fn. 2) The pope, therefore, hereby orders the above three, if Onustead (who was lately dispensed by authority of the ordinary, on account of illigitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to minor orders and hold a benefice without cure, after which he was made a clerk) will accuse Oruanada before them, to summon the latter, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the said canonry and prebend, value 5 marks sterling, to Onustead, whom the pope hereby dispenses to be promoted to all holy orders, and receive and retain them, notwithstanding the said defect, etc. Vite etc. (In the margin: Aug.)
