Mandate to collate and assign to Kentigernus Crethon, priest, of the diocese of St. Andrews, the perpetual vicarage of Leiarclwode [recte Leiardwode] in the said diocese, value 9l. sterling, void by the death at the aposolic see of James Inglis, and therefore ipso facto reserved to the pope. To the dean, the archdeacon, and the treasurer of Limerick. Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by John Ogrifa, priest, of the diocese of Killaloe (Laon[i]en.), that Edmund Orgnyn (?), (fn. 2) perpetual vicar of Donnadmor (fn. 3) in the diocese of Limerick, has laid violent hands on a clerk, and, being under sentence of excommunication therefor, has celebrated masses and other divine offices in contempt of the Keys, and has publicly celebrated the same in presence of a person excommunicated, and taken part therein, and has gravely struck a woman who died of the blow, thereby contracting irregularity, and has committed many other excesses and crimes. The pope, therefore hereby orders the above three, if the said John will accuse the said Edmund before them, to summon the latter, and if [they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and, if they make such deprivation] (fn. 4) and removal, to collate and assign the said vicarage, value 2 marks sterling, to the said John; notwithstanding that the pope has by other letters [below, f. 271v.] ordered provision to be made to him of the perpetual vicarage of Karnarn in the said diocese of Limerick, value 4 marks sterling. The said John alleging that the two churches are near enough to be served by one man, and that their united values do not exceed 24 gold florins of the Camera, the pope hereby specially dispenses him to receive and retain for life the said vicarage of Karnarn with that of Donnadmor. To the prior of St. Mary's, Lorrha (de Fonteuiui [sic]), in the diocese of Killaloe (Laon[i]en.), Thady Olachnayn and William Oduygyn, canons of the same. Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by Thady Oscula, clerk, of Killaloe, that Cornelius Ohaedghayn, perpetual vicar of Lytirluria [sic] in the diocese of Killaloe, has alienated and dilapidated the precious moveable goods of the said church, and converted them to evil uses, and has kept a concubine in the priest's house, even after a monition by the ordinary. The pope, therefore, hereby orders the above three, if the said Thady (who was lately dispensed by authority of the ordinary on account of illegitimacy, as the son of unmarried parents, to be made a clerk, and be promoted to all minor orders and hold a benefice without cure, (fn. 2) after which he was made a clerk), will accuse the said Cornelius before them, to summon the latter, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarage, value 6 marks sterling, to the said Thady, whom the pope hereby specially dispenses to receive and retain it, and to resign it, simply or for exchange, when he pleases, and to be promoted to all, even holy orders, notwithstanding the said defect, etc. Vite etc. (At the end: A. xx. To the prior of St. Mary's, Drumleathain, (fn. 3) in the diocese of Kilmore, and John Macmulmartin and Donald Oflarim, canons of Kilmore. Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by Gerald Orodochayn, clerk, of the diocese of Ardagh, that John Omulmochore, clerk, of the diocese of Kilmore, promised to give a sum of money to the ordinary if he would make him collation and provision of the rectory, commonly called [the rectory] of the land de Chinarnocam, in the diocese of Kilmacduagh, then void by the death of Maurice Ymulnotore [sic] extra R.c., after which promise collation and provision of the said rectory was made to him by the said authority, under pretext of which, after paying the said sum, he obtained possession, and has detained it for about nine months, thereby incurring the sentences of excommunication etc. for simony. The pope, therefore, hereby orders the above three, if the said Gerald will accuse the said John before them, to summon the latter, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to declare the said collation and provision null, and remove the said John, and in that event to collate and assign the said rectory, with cure and value not exceeding 12 marks sterling, to the said Gerald.
