Sept. 16. Westminster.	To Gilbert de Culwen escheator in Cumberland. Order to deliver to John de Greystoke, son of William de Greystoke otherwise called William Adamson, two messuages, 40 acres of land and 2 acres of meadow in Greystoke which his said father held of Ralph son and heir of William de Greystoke baron of Greystoke by the service of rendering 3s. a year and doing suit at the said Ralph's court every three weeks, two messuages and 16 acres of land in the hamlet of Motherby in Greystoke likewise held of the said Ralph by homage and fealty rendering 2d. to cornage at the Assumption, and a messuage and 6 acres of land in the hamlet of Berier in Greystoke held of him by the service of rendering 1lb. of cumin and 1d. a year for all service, and to meddle no further therewith; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that the said William de Greystoke otherwise William Adamson held the premises as aforesaid, that he died on Monday after Martinmas 37 Edward III, that the said John is his heir and of full age, and that for one year after his death the premises were occupied by John Hobcroue, and after by his demise were occupied by Thomas de Motherby until the date of that inquisition; and on 19 May 48 Edward III the said Ralph's age was proved, and the late king took his homage, and commanded livery to be given him of his father's lands.
Sept. 21. Westminster.	To the collectors of customs and the keepers of the passage in the port of London and the river Thames. Order to suffer Dedric Sadelar merchant of Bruges to lade in that port and take to Flanders for sale eleven dozen mantles of Ireland and three dozen boots, first paying the customs and duties thereupon; as the king has given him licence so to do.
Oct. 10. Westminster.	To the treasurer and the barons of the exchequer. Order by advice of the council in the accounts of the collectors to sever the subsidy upon wools and woolfells from the ancient custom of half a mark the sack of wool of natives and 10s. of aliens, the issues of the cocket, the duties and all else thereof arising, taking of the collectors several accounts, so that the king may truly learn the amounts of the same respectively; as it has been agreed by the king and council in parliament that the said subsidy be paid for the expenses of the war to certain persons in parliament deputed, and that the said ancient custom etc. be reserved for the expenses of the king's household and other his needs.
