To Walter Clopton and his fellows, justices appointed to hold pleas before the king. Order by writ of nisi prius to cause an inquisition whereupon Adam Strotte of Quaplode has put himself, being indicted for felony, to be taken before the said justices or one of them, before one of the justices of the Common Bench or the justices of assize in Lincolnshire.

To the same. Like order in regard to an inquisition which remains to be taken between the king and Simon Clerke of Albrighton concerning a messuage and the moiety of one virgate of land in Albrighton and Bisshton co. Salop.

To Peter de Bucton escheator in Yorkshire. Order to give John son and heir of John Bygod knight seisin of his father's lands; as he has proved his age before the escheator, and the king has taken his homage and fealty. By p.s. [11012.]
March 18.

To the escheator in Gloucestershire. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the manor of Park, a forlong of land in 'Harsefelde' called Berepeyre, and one carucate of land in Morecote, delivering up any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by Robert Poyns late escheator, that Amery le Botiller clerk at his death held the premises of others than the king, and that John Kenne of Somerset, being son of Isabel one of his sisters and heirs, and Isabel wife of John Trye, being daughter of Elizabeth his other sister, are cousins and next heirs of the deceased, and of full age.

To the sheriff of Notyngham for the time being. Order every year to pay to Roger Boston the king's serjeant 3d. a day, and to pay him the arrears since 8 April last, on which date for good service the king granted the said Roger, then groom of his kitchen, 3d. a day for his life of the issues of the county of Notyngham.

March 18.
Westminster.
To the chief butler for the time being. Order every year during their lives and the life of the longest liver to deliver to Thomas Clanvowe the king's knight and Perina his wife two tuns of wine a year of the prise of the king's wine in the port of Bristol, which by letters patent of 14 March last the king has granted them for the good service of the said Thomas.

To the king's receiver of Cornwall for the time being. Order to pay to Henry de Kirkestede the king's esquire 5 marks and 10l. a year for life, and the arrears since Easter 1 Richard II; as by letters patent of 18 December 2 Richard II the king granted the said Henry for life from Easter then last 5 marks a year of the profits of the stannary and other the issues and revenues of Cornwall, together with 10l. a year of the said profits etc. to him granted for life by letters patent of the king's father confirmed by the king.

March 18.
Westminster.
To the mayor of the staple of Calais or his representative, and to the constable and the fellowship of merchants of that staple. Order at their peril to arrest all wool and other goods and chattels of John Abraham merchant, a native, now or hereafter found within the town of Calais and the jurisdiction thereof, keeping them under arrest until he shall content William Askham, William Wotton and William Bedforde merchants of 160l., or shall find security for payment thereof; as the king is informed by credible persons that lately in the port of London the said John laded 25 sarplers of wool in five ships, having with him the cockets of the wool laded in three of the ships, and with those three ships fraudulently sailed from London without payment or security for the subsidy due to the king, amounting to 160l., that by reason thereof the two ships remaining, laded as they were with ten sarplers of his wool and with wool of other merchants, were by the customers in the said port arrested for that sum and for the misprision aforesaid, until the said William, William and William mainperned with the customers for payment of the sum from him due, as Andrew Neuport one of the customers has borne witness in chancery by word of mouth; and the king's will is to save himself harmless, and the said merchants.
April 26.

To W. bishop of Winchester. Order, upon petition of the king's father of France by his letters, to view letters under the common seal of the abbot and convent of St. Vigor Cerisy in the diocese of Bayeux in Normandy of the order of St. Benedict, whereby they have chosen and presented brother William Trenchefoun, a monk of the abbey, to be prior of Shirbourne priory in the diocese of Winchester, and to institute and induct him as it pertains to the bishop to do in such a case, any statutes or ordinances within the realm to the contrary notwithstanding; as brother William has shewn the king that the abbot and convent have the said priory as a member and parcel of the abbey, and that although by reason of the vacancy thereof by death of Ingram de Buysson monk they have now of late chosen and presented him, as in times past used to be done, by virtue of certain ordinances made by the king in England, namely that no alien man of religion ought during the war to hold any possessions within the realm, the bishop has refused to admit, institute or induct him without special command of the king under the great seal. April 14.
Westminster.
To Thomas Cammell escheator in Somerset. Order to take the fealty of Robert son of John Hulle, and to give him and Isabel his wife seisin of the lands of Thomas Fychet knight her father, tenant by knight service of the heir of Richard de Ponynges knight a minor in ward of the king, which were taken into the king's hand by death of Thomas Fychet and by reason of her nonage; as the said Isabel, being sister and heir of Thomas son of Thomas Fychet knight, has proved her age before Henry Ilcombe knight escheator in Cornwall.
