Order to the sheriff of Cornwall for election of a coroner instead of Richard Trevaignoun, who is too sick and aged to travail in exercise of that office.
July 10.

Order to the sheriff of Sussex for election of a coroner instead of Thomas atte Bergh, who is insufficiently qualified as the king has learned.

To the escheator in Middlesex. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with 4½ acres of land in the parish of St. Andrew without Old Temple bar London, delivering to Richard Hankeforde any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that William Hankeforde knight at his death held no lands in that county in chief in demesne nor in service, but held the said land in his demesne as of fee, that it is not held of the king, and that the said Richard Hankeforde, being son of Richard son of the said William, is his cousin and next heir, and is of full age.
To the escheator in Wiltesir. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with a third part of a messuage, three cottages, two carucates of land, 6 acres of meadow and 200 acres of pasture in Hakeleston, seven messuages and seven virgates of land in 'Nitheraven,' delivering to Richard the grandson any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that William Hankeforde knight at his death held no lands in that county in chief in demesne nor in service, but held that third part and the premises in 'Nitheraven' in his demesne as of fee, that the same are not held of the king, and that Richard Hankeforde son of Richard son of the said William is his cousin and next heir, and of full age.
To the escheator in Devon and Cornwall. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the manors, burgages, land etc. hereinafter mentioned, delivering to the said Richard any issues thereof taken; as it is found by inquisition, taken before the escheator, that William Hankeforde knight at his death held no lands in those counties in chief in demesne nor in service, but died seised in his demesne as of fee of the manor of Ernescombe, three burgages and 1½ acre of meadow in Chepyngtoryton, a toft and one carucate of land in Beme, a messuage, one carucate of land, 8 acres of meadow and 10 acres of wood in Anry, two messuages and two ferlings of land in Upanry, 40 acres of land in Whitton, a messuage and one carucate of land in Shestrigge, a messuage, one carucate of land and 30s. of rent in Clyfforde Corbyn, a messuage and one ferling of land in Benyshille, a messuage, three ferlings of land and 8s. of rent in Poghille, a messuage and one ferling of land in Brendesworthy, a messuage and one ferling of land in Stottysdoun, 6s. of rent in Monkelegh and Aysshrygge, two messuages, one carucate and one ferling of land in Hankeforde and Heye, a messuage and one ferling of land in Thorne, three messuages, two tofts, five ferlings of land and 8 acres of wood in Estecote, Mokeworthy, Boure and Bibburgh, a messuage and two ferlings of land in Nywelonde, a messuage and three ferlings of land in Paysshecote, 8 acres of land in Bolkeworthy called 'Furslonde,' 8s. of rent in Langetre and 10 marks of rent in Raysshlegh, and that he held by the courtesy of England of the heritage of the said Richard, cousin and heir of Christina late wife of the said William, namely son of Richard her son, a toft and four ferlings of land in Molton, six messuages, nine ferlings of land and 8s. of rent in Vyreworthy and Luttysdoun, all in Devon; and by another inquisition, taken before the escheator, it is found that he held the manor of Keyleynek co. Cornwall, that all the premises are not held of the king, and that the said Richard son of Richard is his cousin and next heir, and of full age.
To William Crowemere mayor of the city of London and escheator therein. Order to give John Dabernoun livery of a messuage, four shops and a garden adjacent to the messuage in Holbourne in the suburb of London, and the issues thereof taken since the death of William Hankeforde knight; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by William Crowemere, that Richard Gabriell canon of the cathedral church of St. Peter Exeter, John Hals and John Osbarne were seised of the premises, and made a demise and grant thereof, by name of a messuage new built and the shops and garden adjacent, to the said deceased and to John Hankeforde, William Wonarde and John Dabernoun yet living (sic), and the heirs male of the body of the deceased, that William Wonarde made a release thereof to the deceased and his heirs, that John Hankeforde died, and William Hankeforde continued his joint estate with John Dabernoun all his life, and died so seised, and that the same are held of the king in free burgage as is all the city of London; and the king has taken the fealty of John Dabernoun.
To the escheator in Berkshire. Order to take the fealties of Walter Hungerforde knight, William Wonarde and John Dabernoun, and to give them livery of six messuages, a toft, seven virgates of land and 53s. 4d. of rent in Estbury and Bokhampton, and the issues thereof taken since the death of William Hankeforde knight, but to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with other the manor, messuages, land, rent etc. hereinafter mentioned, delivering to them any issues thereof taken; as it is found by inquisition, taken before the escheator, that a fine levied at Westminster in the octaves of St. John Baptist 9 Henry IV between Thomas Berkley lord of Berkley, Walter Hungerforde, William Hankeforde knights, William Wilcotes, William Stourton, Thomas Calston, William Coventre, William Wonarde and John Dabernoun plaintiffs and Ralph Arches and Elizabeth his wife deforciants of the manor of Estbury, seven messuages, seven tofts, five carucates and 90 acres of land, 20 acres of meadow, 300 acres of pasture, 100 acres of wood, 100s. of rent and pasture for one cow and 25 sheep in Estbury, Bokhampton, Chepynglamborne, Haywode, Leverton and Haddele and the advowson of the chapel or chantry of St. Mary Chepynglamborne, whereby the deforciants acknowledged the right of William Coventre in the said manor, three messuages, four tofts, the said carucates, meadow, pasture, wood, rent and advowson, and in the reversions of three messuages, a toft, 40 acres of land and pasture for one cow in Estbury, Haywode and Leverton held for life by Walter Colas, a toft and 3 acres of land in Estbury by John Cokke and 7 acres of land there by John Frensshe, that William Coventre after made a quitclaim of the same to William Hankeforde, William Stourton, William Wonarde and John Dabernoun and to the heirs of William Hankeforde, by name of the manor of Estbury and all messuages, tofts, dovecotes, lands, woods, rents, services and reversions in Estbury, Bokhampton and Chepynglamborne sometime of John de Estbury the elder, and the said advowson, that Thomas Berkley, William Wilcotes, William Stourton and Thomas Calston died, that William Hankeforde after died seised of the estate aforesaid jointly with Walter Hungerforde, William Wonarde and John Dabernoun, and that the messuages, toft, land and rent first above mentioned are held in chief by knight service, the other manor, messuages, land etc. of others than the king; and for a fine paid in the hanaper by letters patent of 10 July 9 Henry IV that king pardoned the trespasses herein committed.
To the escheator in Staffordshire. Order to take the fealties of William Cheyne, son of William Cheyne of Sussex, Edmund Dauntesey, William Wonarde and John Dabernoun, and to give them livery of a moiety of the moieties, market and fair hereinafter mentioned, and the issues thereof taken since the death of William Hankeforde knight; as it is found by inquisition, taken before the escheator, that a fine levied at Westminster in the octaves of Trinity 4 Henry V, and was granted and recorded in the octaves of Michaelmas that year, between the said William Hankeforde, William Cheyne, Edmund, William Wonarde and John plaintiffs and Walter Dauntesey son of John Dauntesey knight (militis) deforciant, of a moiety of the manor of Pencryche whereof Amice who was wife of Robert Bardolfe knight was then tenant for life, whereby the deforciant acknowledged the right of William Hankeforde, granting the reversion of that moiety to the plaintiffs and the heirs of William Hankeforde, that the said Amice after died, that another fine levied there a month after Easter 5 Henry V, and was granted and recorded in the octaves of Trinity that year,

between the same parties, of a weekly market every Thursday at the said manor, and a fair there every year to last five days, namely the eve and day of Michaelmas and three days following, and of a moiety of the manor of Robbaston, whereby the deforciant made a like acknowledgment, that William Hankeforde was jointly seised of those moieties and of the said market and fair, and died thereof so seised, and that those moieties are held in chief by knight service; and for a fine paid in the hanaper by letters patent of 15 July 5 Henry V the late king pardoned the trespasses herein committed.
To the escheator in Somerset. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the manor of 'Estcranemer,' delivering to Robert Veel any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that William Hankeforde knight at his death held no lands in that county in chief in demesne nor in service, but held that manor, being jointly enfeoffed with Robert Veel, by gift of William Dyber parson of Kyngeston Russell to them and to Humphrey Stafforde knight, William Ekerdoun clerk and William Coventre and to their heirs, that the said Humphrey, William Ekerdoun and William Coventre made a quitclaim thereof to William Hankeforde and Robert Veel and to the heirs of William Hankeforde, that William Hankeforde died seised of a joint estate therein, and that the manor is not held of the king.
To the escheator in Oxfordshire. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the moieties of the manor of Bokenylle, delivering to William Cheyne, son of William Cheyne of Sussex, Edmund Dauntesey, William Wonarde and John Dabernoun any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned etc. that William Hankeforde held one moiety thereof, being jointly enfeoffed with them by gift of Walter Daunteseye, son of John Daunteseye knight, to them and the heirs of William Hankeford, and the other moiety likewise, by name of a moiety of the manor of Bokenylle otherwise Bokenhille, by gift of the said Walter, by name of Walter Daunteseye knight, to them and the heirs of William Hankeforde, and that those moieties are not held of the king.
To the escheator in Devon. Order to take the fealty of William Clerke, and to give him livery of the manor of Riddemore, and the issues thereof taken, but to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with the manor of Aysshecombe, a messuage and one ferling of land in Rixtivelle and 30s. of yearly rent in 'Whitecrosse' and Peaumere, delivering to William Clerke any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned etc. (as above) that William Hankeforde knight at his death held all the premises, being jointly enfeoffed with William Clerke, by gift of Robert Kirkham to them and Richard Hankeforde and Henry Foleforde, both now deceased, and to their heirs, and that the manor of Riddemore is held by knight service of William le Zoche, a minor in ward of the king, and the other manor, messuage, land and rent of other lords.
To the escheator in Devon. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with two messuages, one carucate of land and 20s. of rent in Uppecote, Hals and Bydeforde, three messuages and three ferlings of land in Dauysheanton, and two messuages and two ferlings of land in Merlonde St. Peter, delivering to John Dabernoun any issues thereof taken; as the king has learned etc. that William Hankeforde held the premises, being jointly enfeoffed with him, by gift of Oliver son of William de Cervyngton to the said William Hankeforde and John and to Christina wife of William Hankeforde, Henry Foleforde and John Hankeforde now deceased, and to their heirs, and that the same are not held of the king.
