June 14.
Westminster.
To the escheator in Oxfordshire. Order to give Thomas Baldyngton, son and heir of William Baldyngton esquire, seisin of his father's lands, saving the dower of Joan who was wife of the said William; as he has proved his age before the escheator, and the king has taken his homage and fealty. By p.s. [1452.]
To the escheator in Bukinghamshire. Like order; as the said Thomas has proved his age before John Daunevers escheator in Oxfordshire. By p.s. (as above).
June 16.
Westminster.
To the escheator in Oxfordshire. Order to take of Joan who was wife of William Baldyngton esquire an oath etc., and in presence of Thomas Baldyngton, son and heir of the said William, or of his attorneys, to assign her dower.
To the escheator in Bukinghamshire. Order to assign dower to the said Joan, of whom the king has commanded the escheator in Oxfordshire to take an oath etc.
July 11.
Westminster.
To the keepers of the ports of Dovorre, Sandewich and Wynchilsey. Order to cause the abbot of Beaulieu and Walter Pole knight, the ambassadors sent by the king to the pope, to have speedy and sufficient shipping for themselves, their men, horses and harness at their cost, that their passage be not hindered by default of the keepers. By p.s. [1480].
June 20.
Westminster.
To the escheator in Somerset. Order to give the next friend of Edward Courtenay, son and heir of Hugh Courtenay knight, to whom the inheritance may not descend livery of two messuages in Kyngeston, a messuage and 40 acres of land in Hille otherwise Hulle, a messuage and one acre of meadow in Cherde and two messuages with appurtenances in Yevele, and the issues thereof taken, to keep until the lawful age of the said heir; as the king has learned by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that Edward Courtenay earl of Devon and lord of Okhampton was thereof seised, and gave the same to the said Hugh his brother and to the heirs male of his body, that they are held in socage of the heirs of the earl of March by fealty only, and that Edward is son and heir of Hugh, and was of the age of eight years and more at the date of that inquisition.

To the escheator in Devon. Order to take the fealties of Master Michael Lerchedeken, Matthew Doune, Geoffrey Veale, Thomas Pay clerks and Richard Whytlok, and to give them livery of 100 acres of arable land, 4 acres of meadow, 200 acres of wood, 300 acres of furze and heath and 6s. of rent in Skyradoun, and the issues thereof taken; as it is found by inquisition, taken before the escheator, that John Boyvyle the elder was thereof seised, and long before the death of Hugh Courtenay knight granted the same for 80 years from the feast of St. Bartholomew 1 Henry VI, by name of all his messuages, lands, rents, reversions and services in Skyradoun, to the said Hugh, by name of Hugh Courtenay of Haccombe knight, the said Michael and the others, and to the heirs and assigns of the said Hugh, that while in their possession the said John after made a quitclaim thereof to them, and that the premises are held in chief by the service of the sixth part of one knight's fee; and for a fine paid in the hanaper the king has pardoned the trespasses herein committed.
To the escheator in Devon. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with 50 acres of arable land, 12 acres of meadow and 6 acres of wood in Dounyngeston, delivering up any issues thereof taken; as it is found (as above) that Hugh Courtenay knight at his death held the same of the abbot of Torre, and that Edward Courtenay is his son and heir, and is of the age of eight years and more.

Order to the sheriff of Somerset for election of a verderer in the forest of Nerecchich instead of William Neweton, who is insufficiently qualified.
June 14.
Westminster.
Like order to the sheriff of Norhampton in regard to Henry Mulsho, a verderer of the forest of Rokyngham, who is dead.
June 20.
Westminster.
Like order, mutatis mutandis, to the sheriff of Leycester in regard to Nicholas Joe a coroner, who is insufficiently qualified.
