Edward Foljambe of [ (fn. 1) ] co. Derby knight to Hamon Sutton of Lincoln. Recognisance for 1,000 marks, to be levied etc. in Derbyshire.
Condition, that neither the said Edward nor William Kepas, John Kepas, Richard Kepas, John Shawe nor any other for them, by their procurement or for their sake shall do or procure hurt or harm to the said Hamon or any of his servants, nor to his friends or any of his neighbours of the city of Lincoln.
Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 10l., made in chancery 6 July this year by John Morker of Berforde co. Bedford 'gentilman,' John Fitz of Polhanker 'gentilman,' Thomas Kempston of Bedforde 'gentilman' and John Pecke of Coupol 'gentilman,' all in Bedfordshire, for Thomas Pecke, that he shall appear in person in chancery upon fifteen days' warning to him or one of his mainpernors.

Kent, also of a piece of land in the parish of Cheselherst sometime of John Hacche lying in a place called the Steerte, two pieces sometime of John Rose of Bromleigh in the place aforesaid, another in the parish of Craye St. Paul sometime of John Billynge of Cheselherst called 'Johanesacre,' and of all the arable lands, woods and pastures sometime of Katherine who was wife of John Edelowe of Craye St. Mary lying by and about 'Powkelane' otherwise called 'Hobdodlane' in the parish of Paulynescreye, all which the grantor had by feoffment of Alan Everarde citizen and mercer of London. Award of Thomas Charleton knight, Thomas Frowyke esquire, John Faryngdoun and William Sydenay in a dispute between Robert Okeburne on the one part and John Lorchyn of London 'grocer' and Peter Lorchyn on the other part touching the possession and title of divers lands, rents and reversions in Hermodesworth and 'Stanwelmore' co. Middlesex sometime of Peter Lodyngton, that the said Robert shall have all those lands to him, his heirs and assigns, as it is witnessed by deeds, releases and other evidences produced, which the arbitrators consider beyond suspicion, and as he has proved by credible witnesses, and that John and Peter Lorchyn shall make him a release thereof, and at his cost such security as by advice of his counsel he will desire, and that he shall pay to John Lorchyn 40 marks, namely 10 marks immediately after they shall make him the security aforesaid and 20l. before Michaelmas next following. Dated 28 November 2 Henry VI.

John abbot of St. Mary Graces by the Tower of London and the convent to John Selman and Robert Caterton. Letter of attorney, appointing them to give Henry Somer and Katherine his wife seisin of the whole meadow in Totenham and Edelmeton co. Middlesex, which they have granted to the said Henry and Katherine for their lives and the life of the longest liver. Dated the chapter house, 20 June 3 Henry VI.

William Elmeden knight, John Trollop and Christopher Spencer esquires to Robert Ogle knight. Recognisance for 200l., to be levied etc. in Northumberland.
Condition, that William Elmeden shall abide the award of William Bowes knight and William Chancellor esquire, arbitrators chosen on his behalf, John Widryngton knight and John Fenwyke esquire on behalf of Robert Ogle, concerning all personal actions, quarrels and debates between them, their men or servants, and shall on his part and on the part of his men or servants perform the same, and every one of his men and servants likewise, so that the award shall be made in the chapel upon the bridge of Newcastle upon Tyne before the Nativity of the Virgin next, that if any of the arbitrators die or owing to infirmity may not take part in such award, another or others shall be chosen by the parties or either party, so that those chosen by William Elmeden shall be in person at the said chapel on Monday before St. Peters Chains next without delay, fraud or covin to make the award, and that if the arbitrators may not agree, he, his men or servants shall abide and perform the award of Henry Percy earl of Northumberland, John baron of Graystoke and Robert Umfraville knight umpires chosen by the parties, so that their award be rendered before the feast of St. Matthew, and if the said baron may not be there, the award of the said earl and Robert Umfraville.

John abbot of St. Mary Graces by the Tower of London and the convent to Henry Somer and Katherine his wife. Indenture of grant with warranty for their lives and the life of the longest liver of a yearly rent of 10l. to be taken of the manor of Westmylle co. Hertford, reciting a deed under their common seal, dated in the chapter house 1 November 12 Henry IV whereby William late abbot and the convent granted to Henry Somer 40s. a year for life in the abbey, an indenture of 20 October 13 Henry IV whereby they demised to the said Henry and Katherine for eighty years from that date a tenement and garden adjacent, situate within the abbey near the church door on the north side of the church, wherein the said Henry and Katherine then dwelt, and fourteen loaves a week to be taken in the abbey, namely seven white loaves of the convent bread and seven seconds, and another indenture of Monday the feast of St. Benedict the Abbot 13 Henry IV whereby they demised to the said Henry and Katherine for their lives from Easter then next a tenement with garden adjacent situate without the abbey gate on the north side of the abbey late in the tenure of Henry Fouler esquire and Elizabeth his wife, that for these grants Henry Somer paid them divers sums of money to the advantage of the abbey, and bore heavy expenses in new building divers buildings within those tenements and in costly repairs etc. to the advantage of the abbey, as by ocular survey and otherwise may appear, and that at the special request of the now abbot and convent Henry Somer has surrendered his estate in the said annuity of 40s., and the said Henry and Katherine in the said tenements and gardens and the bread above mentioned, to the end that they may have 10l. a year for their lives and the life of the longest liver. Proviso that if the said Katherine overlive her husband, and shall thrust out the grantors from the tenement sometime of Henry Fouler, and claim the same, the said yearly rent shall cease. Dated the chapter house, 1 May 3 Henry VI.
