Henry Langley of Riklyng co. Essex and John Leventhorp of Sabrichesworth co. Hertford esquires to John Rogiers of Benham co. Berkshire. Recognisance for 200 marks, to be levied etc. of their lands and chattels in Essex and Hertfordshire.
Condition, that neither Ralph Grey, Elizabeth his wife nor any of the heirs of their bodies shall recover in the king's court any lands in Chepynglambourne, Uplamburne and Bokampton late of the said Ralph and Elizabeth against John Roger of Benham, his heirs or assigns.

Thomas Stanley knight of Lancashire, Walter Strykelande of Wiltesir esquire and Henry Norreys of Lancashire esquire to William Beauchamp knight. Recognisance for 2,000l., to be levied etc. in the counties aforesaid.
Condition, that the said Henry shall discharge the said William, his heirs and executors of all receipts taken by the said Henry in his office while under chamberlain of Northwales under the said William, and shall save them harmless toward the king and others whatsoever in respect of other matters by him done in the said office during that time.

Charter with warranty of all messuages, tofts, cottages, lands, rents, services etc. in the towns and fields of Baldoke, Clothale, Bygrave, Wellien and Weston sometime of John Venour, Joan his wife, William Walkerne and John Shodstoke, with wards, marriages, reliefs, escheats and common of pasture in Clothale and Wellien, and the manor of Kyngeswode in the parish (sic) of Clothale, Walyngton and Ressheden co. Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 200 marks, made in chancery 13 May 15 Henry VI by Thomas Stanley and Thomas Rempston knights for John Hokes of Flynte in Wales 'gentilman,' Thomas Pulle of Pulle 'gentilman' and Thomas de Hough of Thornton 'gentilman,' both in Cheshire, to have them in chancery one month after Michaelmas next in order to answer touching what shall be laid against them.

Kennington manor.
To the abbot and convent of St. Augustine Bristol. Order to take again their letters patent concerning a corrody or maintenance in that abbey which John Deken has, to admit to their house the said John and William Alberton one of the clerks of the office of the privy seal, and minister such corrody or maintenance to them for their lives and the life of the longest liver, making and delivering to them other letters patent under the common seal of the house with mention of what they shall take, and writing again by the bearer what they will do; as the said John is minded to demise his estate therein to the end that he and William Alberton may jointly have the same, and in consideration of the long and unpaid service of the said William in the office aforesaid the king has granted the same to them. Condition, that the said John and Margaret his wife shall abide and perform the award of John Vampage and John Hody chosen on their behalf, or of another instead of each if either may not be present, and of William Chauntrell serjeant at law and Richard Wakhurst on behalf of Thomas Echyngham, or another (as above), touching the right, title and possession of the manor of Poplesham co. Sussex and all actions, plaints, debates and demands between the parties, so that their award be made before the quinzaine of Trinity next, or else the judgment of John bishop of Bath and Wells the chancellor, John Juyn chief justice of the Common Bench and John Goderede justice for pleas of the crown before the king, in case the arbitrators may not agree before the day named, so that such judgment be made before the octaves of St. John Baptist following.

William Milreth and Thomas Cannynges, both of London, to the king. Recognisance for 200l., to be levied etc. in the city of London.
Condition, that during one month after a ship called the 'Marie' laded with divers goods and merchandise shall touch at Ernemuthe in Seland, the king having granted the said William and Thomas by letters patent to send the same over sea thither, they shall keep the sea at their own cost with three ships, one barge and two balingers furnished and arrayed against the king's enemies with masters, seamen, armed men, archers and other needful habiliments of war, and shall not plunder nor harm the king's friends or allies, or others who have his safe conduct, or else shall make them restitution.

Hugh Dorsete, tenant for life by the courtesy of England after the death of Joan his wife of a third part of the manor of 'Westillebury' co. Essex, a third part of the manor of Henhurst co. Kent, and a third part of two thirds of the manor of Pountfreyt co. Middlesex, to John Harpur and his heirs. Charter indented of demise of the aforesaid parts during the life of the said Hugh, subject to a yearly rent of 20 marks and all charges, power being reserved to enter and hold the same again in his first estate if the rent shall be one quarter in arrear. Dated 12 June 13 Henry VI.

William abbot of Waltham Holy Cross and the convent to William Estfelde citizen and alderman of London and Juliana his wife and to their assigns. Gift with warranty, for 500 marks paid to the abbot and convent and to creditors of theirs for their relief and advantage, of a yearly rent of 50 marks for their lives and the life of the longest liver, to be taken of all the manors, lands etc. of the grantors in Essex, the first term of payment being at Easter next; and in name of seisin they have paid 20d. Proviso that if before Michaelmas day 1438 the grantors shall pay 500 marks in the church of St. Mary Aldermanbury London, this grant shall be void; and that no acquittance, release or payment made elsewhere shall be alleged in their discharge, and any so alleged shall be void; and bond in 100 marks for payment. Dated the chapter house, 1 October 15 Henry VI.
