Indenture of agreement for partition of the castle and manor of Horneby co. Lancastre with the members etc., the manors of Great Farneley, Little Farneley, Okenshawe, Clakeheton, Scoles, Collyng, Conyngley, Gairgrave, Poterton, Grymston, Kirkeby upon Wharfe, 'Northmilforde' and Hoton Longvillers co. York, and Appilby co. Lincoln, and all other manors, lands, rents and services late of Robert Neville of Horneby knight, of whom the said Margaret wife of William is daughter and one of the heirs and John de Langton cousin and the other heir, namely son of Joan his daughter, except the manor of Brerelay and the advowsons of 'Monkbritton,' the churches (sic) of Badesworth, Kirkheton and Hoghlande co. York, and of all other lands, rents and services which were of Margaret the duke's wife in those counties; namely that the said William and Margaret shall have to them and the heirs and assigns of the said Margaret the castle and manor of Horneby and all other lands, rents and services of the said Robert and of Margaret the duke's wife in Lancashire, rendering yearly to John de Langton, his heirs and assigns 12l. of all messuages, lands, rents and services in Ayntre and Mellyng, and John de Langton shall have to him, his heirs and assigns the manors aforesaid in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, the advowson of Thorneholme priory co. Lincoln, the rent of 12l. aforesaid, and all other lands, rents and services in those counties of the said Robert and Margaret the duke's wife with the exceptions aforesaid. Indenture of defeasance of a recognisance for 20l. by him made in chancery, upon condition that he shall pay 40s. on Thursday next, 5 marks on Michaelmas day next, 40s. on Easter day following, 40s. on Michaelmas day following, 40s. on Easter day following, and 40s. on Michaelmas day following, or shall content them in wares of that value between merchant and merchant, to be by the said clerks appraised; and covenant that if he shall fulfil those payments at the feasts above named they shall make him a release of the last 40s. Quitclaim with warranty of the third part of a messuage, 113 acres of land, 24 acres of meadow, 8 acres of pasture, 2 acres of wood and 6s. 8d. of rent in Weston by Baldoke co. Hertforde called Dernewelles, late of John Nele otherwise Dernewelle deceased, which part descended by inheritance to Katherine wife of the said Richard as daughter and one of the heirs of John Nele, and by fine levied in the king's court the said Peter and John Walyngton have the same by gift of the said Richard and Katherine.
