co. Surrey and the convent to Thomas Canynges citizen and grocer
of London, Elizabeth his wife and Margaret their daughter.
Gift indented with warranty, for a sum of money beforehand paid
to relief of the priory, of a yearly rent of 20l., for their lives and
the life of the longest liver, to be taken of all their lands in the
city and suburbs of London and payable in that city, and power
to distrain for arrears in all their manors, lands etc. in Surrey,
Sussex, Middlesex, Essex, Kent, Hertfordshire and elsewhere
within the realm; covenant that they shall have further 40s.
in name of a pain if the rent be six weeks in arrear, if a distress
be rescued or replevied, or if by incitement or procurement of
the grantors they be hindered from distraining or impleaded for
a distress, and power to distrain for the same as aforesaid, and
that the grantors shall not plead or allege any payment or acquittance dated elsewhere than in the said city, and all others shall
be void; and they have put the grantees in possession by payment
