PRAYERS.

Lady D'Auhigny, &c.

THE humble Petition of the Lady D' Aubigny, Prisoner; desiring Enlargement, or a speedy Trial; was this Day read.

Sir Rob. Harle, Sir Nevile Poole, Mr. Gurdon, . . H. Cholmeley, are appointed to inquire after the Usage of my Lady D' Aubigny, in her Imprisonment; and to report it to the House. It is likewise referred to this Committee, to inquire after the Usage of Captain Chadwell, Prisoner in Lambeth House; and to report the State of his Imprisonment, and his Usage, to the House.

Ordered, That none shall have Liberty to visit the Lady D' Aubigny, but such as shall have Leave by this House; and this Leave to be demanded between Ten and Twelve of Clock.

Ordered, That Mr. Howard, Brother to the Lady D' Aubigny, shall have Leave to go along with the Committee this Day appointed, to visit and speak with the Lady D'Aubigny.

Prisoners of War.

Ordered, That the Committee for Prisoners shall give Order, that Three-pence per Diem be allowed to the Soldiers in London House, till further Order be taken with them: And that the Treasurer at Wars do pay this Allowance: And that the Committee for the Safety do grant their Warrant accordingly.

Scotch Church Assembly.

Ordered, That the Assembly of Divines do write a Letter to the Assembly of the Church in Scotland, to acknowledge their pious and good Expressions to the Church and State, testified in their late Letters and Advices; and to desire them to possess the People of that Kingdom with our Condition; and to encourage them to our Assistance in this Cause of Religion.

Examination of Hotham.

The Petition of Captain Jo. Hotham was this Day read: And it is Ordered, That the Committee shall proceed, in the Examination of the Petitioner, in the ordinary Course, according to such Informations as shall be given them.

Transactions with Scotland.

The Propositions offered by Mr. Meldrun, sent from Scotland, were this Day read: And, upon Consideration thereof, it is Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee that formerly prepared the Instructions for the Committee sent into Scotland, to prepare a general Answer to the Propositions sent from Scotland by Mr. Meldrun: And to prepare Additional Instructions for the Committee, if, upon the Occasion of these Propositions, or any other Occasion, it shall be needful.

Answers from Lords.

Mr. Knightley brings Answer, that the Lords do agree to the additional Names of the Counties of Northampton and Cambridge, carried up by him: That, to the Ordinance concerning Mrs. Pettus; and to the Ordinances for Payment of the Arrears to some Irish Officers; they will send Answer, by Messengers of their own.

He had likewise in Charge, to put the Lords in mind to speed their Answer to the Ordinance concerning Newcastle; and received Answer, that the Lords would take it into a speedy Consideration; and send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Scandalizing Lord General, &c.

Resolved, &c. That such as shall be found guilty of any Scandals laid upon his Excellency my Lord of Essex shall be severely punished: And that a Declaration shall be brought in, to pass both Houses, for Vindication of his Excellency.

Resolved, &c. That if any Scandal hath been laid upon any Officer, or other of the Army; that this House will be always ready, upon Complaint, to do them all Justice.

Loss of the West.

The Question being put, whether a Committee should be appointed to examine the Occasion of the Loss of the West;

The House was divided.

The Yeas, went forth.

So that the Question passed with the Negative.

Army Affairs.

Mr. Recorder, Mr. Pym, are appointed to draw up the Votes of the House, upon the Propositions from my Lord General, into some Form; to be presented to the Lords, at a Conference; and to be likewise sent to my Lord General.

Weekly Assessments.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edward Leech and Dr. Heath;

The Lords have commanded us to deliver unto you this Ordinance concerning the weekly Assessments, which proceeded from this House: With these Alterations and Amendments, they do agree to this Ordinance.

The Amendments were read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; that this House has considered their Lordships Message; and do agree to the Additions and Amendments to the Ordinance for the weekly Assessments.

Removing Prisoners.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Squire, Mr. Soame, and Mr. Swadling, Ministers, and Prisoners in London House, be forthwith removed thence, and committed Prisoners to the Prison of Newgate; there to remain during the Pleasure of the House.

Exchange of Prisoners.

Ordered, That it shall be left to the Discretion of the Lord Fairefaxe, to treat and conclude with the Earl of Newcastle, for Exchange of General Goring for such Prisoners as he shall think fitting.

Landing Currants.

Upon a Report, this Day made from the Committee of the Navy;

It is Resolved, upon the Question, That the Currants laden by the several Merchants in the Ship Nicholas, and carried into Holland, shall be brought again into this Port of London, and permitted to be landed, and put to Sale, paying the Custom for the same.

Ordered, That Sir Thomas Some shall Ihave Leave to bring in his Currants which were laden in the Ship * *, and shall have Leave to land them, paying the Custom.

And it is further Ordered, That the rest of the Petitioners before the Committee of the Navy, desiring Liberty for the landing of several small Parcels of Currants, shall be permitted to land, and put them to Sale, paying the Customs due for the same.

King's Revenue.

Ordered, That Mr. Holland be added to the Committee for the King's Revenue.

Council of War.

Upon a Report, this Day made from the Committee appointed to consider of Men fit for a Council of War; and to present the Names of them to the House;

It is Resolved, &c. That this House doth nominate and approve of Sir Wm. Waller, Colonel Alexander Papham, Major Wm. Jephson, Sir Jo. Clatwarthy, Sir Hen. Holoroft, Mr. Stockdale, Mr. Pym, Sir Gilb Gerard, Colonel Harvey, Colonel Maynwaring, Mr. Crew, Monsiour Mazieris, Sir Rob. Kinge; to be a Council of War; and upon these following Instructions:

1. To advise touching the speedy raising and arming the Six thousand Five hundred Horse, to be raised within the City of London, and Counties, mentioned in the Ordinance to that Purpose; and touching the disposing of them, as soon as any of them shall be ready for Service.

2. That Mr. Wakerley and Mr. Frost shall be Secretaries to the Council, and have Monies advanced to them for Intelligence.

3. To take the whole State of the War into Consideration, so far as shall concern the consultive Part; and to propound to the Houses, the Lord General, the Governors of Towns or Forts, and other Commanders in chief, such Things as they shall conceive will conduce to the Service of the Kingdom.

4. That they make a Protestation, each to other, not to disclose any of their Counsels, without the Consent of the major Part.

5. That this Council do meet To-morrow in the Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in Goldsmiths Hall.

Copies of this Council of War, and Instructions, are forthwith to be sent to the several Persons, by one of the Serjeant's Men.

Windsor Garison.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Safety of the Kingdom do grant their Warrants to the several and respective Treasurers appointed to receive the Monies that come in upon the Ordinance of Sequestrations, Twentieth Part, and weekly Assessments, to pay and issue, out of such Monies as are in their or either of their Hands, or shall come to their Hands, the full Sum of Two thousand Pounds to the Treasurer at Wars; to be by him forthwith paid over unto Colonel Ven, or such as he shall appoint to receive the same, upon Account, towards Payment and Satisfaction of the Arrears due to the Garison at Windsor: And the Committee for signing of Warrants for Disposal of Monies are hereby required to sign Warrants for the speedy Issuing and Payment of these Monies, by the said respective Treasurers; so that the Monies, by the said Treasurers, or either of them, issued upon this Order, exceed not the Sum of Two thousand Pounds: And, for so doing, this Order, together with the Acquittance or Acquittances of Colonel Ven, or such as he shall appoint to receive the same, shall be a sufficient Warrant and Discharge to the said Treasurers, or any other concerned herein, for so much as shall be paid by virtue of this Order.
